Hey Pete!
I think that's my black kit in the first pic! : )
Had alot of unexpected medical bills come up with my wife's leg (no medical insurance) so I unfortunately haven't got the car on the road yet but will here soon.
I just had the throttle linkage parts behind the pulleys powdercoated black to match the kit
It looks really nice with the plug in the middle of the pulleys. I didn't have to lengthen my manifold studs like the instructions say since you redesigned the brackets. |

I'm finishing up the SyncLink install on my '70 beetle and the toughest part is installing the cable to the pedal. It's hard to get in that tight spot and do what you need to. I wish I had waited a couple more weeks and gotten a black kit from Pete. They look sweet! _________________ Pics of my 1970 Satin Black Type 1 build |

Here's mine installed! I haven't fired it up but it took about 3 seconds to sync everything. It doesn't get much easier and I love not having to mess with helm joints.

Is there a single post that describes in detail how to set this linkage up? I'm interested - I'm in the final stages of getting my 2110 together and ready for the car. Just doing the 'cleanup' work like plumbing for L/H head drain - crank end play etc and would really like a linkage for the 44mm HPMX that is simple to set up and keep in adjustment. I've used hex bars round bars and push pull linkages and I've never been real impressed with any of them.
I checked the Samba ads - you don't have these for sale there.
I just don't want to have to read through 13 pages of posts to glean out the details.
Thanks. _________________ 71 Ghia Coupe - stock - no rust! - 2110 power

When i asked the question i thought it had to run through the fan shroud to and used it as a holder for the cable. Sorry after looking at it i see it doses not have to through the shroud.
thanks |

slowtwitch,
I finally got the engine buttoned down and running and had a chance to drive around a bit yesterday. It purrs like a kitten and the throttle is so smooth. It took me a little bit to get used to how responsive the pedal is now. The engine will now do whatever I want it to. The SyncLink is awesome, great work. _________________ Pics of my 1970 Satin Black Type 1 build |

Glad to here it's working for you. The pedal responce does take a little getting use to. Remember you have eliminated 7 pivot points that a hex bar linkage would have, thus a smoother throttle responce _________________ pete |

The Sync-Link looks like a clever idea and appears to be very well made, but can someone tell me what advantages (other than a cleaner look) it offers over Berg's shroud-mounted linkage? Berg offers specific kits for Weber DCN, DCNF, IDA & IDF carbs along with Solex 40P11 and even Kadrons. It has no rigid connection between the carbs to introduce harmonics, installs & adjusts easliy and works with the stock fresh-air heat ducts. Costs about $100 less too.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with Berg...I'm just someone who's used this linkage for years and found it to be a great alternative to the hex-bar style. If the Sync-Link offers more, I'd certainly be interested in giving it a closer look.

From my minimal understanding, it offers:
MUCH better throttle response, because the cable runs from the pedal DIRECTLY to the carbs without having to go through any linkage..
a cleaner looking engine compartment
bragging rights that you have a product not many have that looks friggin killer!
almost little to no effort involved in syncing carbs
I may have missed some things, but those are the bullet points that make me wish I had an extra couple hundred laying around so I could have a set.. _________________ -pariah (just a novice from "that other VW site")
