I'd love to see pictures of your progress on the fresh air setup as well. Being patient. Cant wait for this setup to come out. My upcoming engine build has a stock doghouse fanshroud and is waiting a compatible SyncLink setup. |

Hi Pete, I know you've done a lot of work regarding this system but do you mind me asking why the system as it is currently will not work with the fresh air tubes?
I was looking at pictures and it looks like a squeeze but with minor alterations (changing the angles of the cable end mounts) it might work?
I really am desperate to get one of these systems!!!!

BigBlue, if i have time tonight, I'll take some pics of my test rig and show you the why. |
Hi Pete would this suggestion work?
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=849027
I also thought about elongating the vertical mount bars and drilling the cable attachments at an angle, top entry angled up and bottom angled down giving more room to go round the fresh air tubes.
I'm tempted to order a kit for DRLA fitment and try and modify it myself.
Does it come with a longer than needed cable?
Do you have any left for order?
Thanks |

I purchased SyncLink from Pete for my Speedster replica.
First, Pete was very responsive and answered all my questions quickly and thoroughly. The kit arrived within a few days of ordering.
Second, the kit is a thing of beauty. Well packaged and every piece fit precisely.
Installation on a speedster replica is a little tough as there's very little room in the footwell but it is well worth the effort.
I have tried several different linkages; Redline, CB (with the heim joint modification), CSP bellcrank and Gene Berg - none of them were close to the performance of the SyncLink.
Thanks, Pete!
BTW, anyone interested in a nice Berg linkage in great shape? New, unmolested Weber IDF arms and down rods included. Make me an offer. |

Started to install mine and realized I had two passenger side brackets, so I emailed Pete, and he had a new set in the mail the next day. Talk about customer service. Thanks Pete!!!!

I don't remember if this was covered somewhere in the last 20 pages, so I apologize if it was.. how does the sync cable attach to the pedal? I currently have a VERY thick morse cable.. does the cable for this replace it entirely? _________________ -pariah (just a novice from "that other VW site")

Yes the kit includes everything you need to hook the pedal to the carbs. Just installed set #3 on Sunday (actually re-installed a previous kit on a new engine) . Everything went smooth and looks great. I needed a replacement cabel as this new engine was wider than the old one, Pete had the stuff in the mail the next day. Very quality prodect with great customer service. Looks like he has done some more visual improvements to the mounting brackets as well since I last purchased. Nice! |

I sooooo want this kit!!!!!!
Really annoyed with my linkages as they never stay in sync and I'm doing 70 miles a day so can't afford down time to play with things!
Are they really easy to set up compared to the other linkage types?
I'm waiting on Pete to get a prototype together for cars with heating

Basically just hook up the kit, sync the carbs at idle, and adjust the cables to get any slack out. I then just verify they are both opening to WOT at the same time, and you're good to go. |

thanks for the reply! kinda bummed because I liked my crazy thick cable, but I'd rather have this than my crappy hex bar.. _________________ -pariah (just a novice from "that other VW site")

The synclink cable is better than the stock cable and you also have less friction on it because of the design. I think the larger cable would be over kill on this system, all you need to do is make sure the pedal stops when the carbs are WOT and you won't have unnecessary strain on it. _________________ Pics of my 1970 Satin Black Type 1 build |

yeah I bought the thicker cable just as a preventative measure against a snapping cable.. had it happen to a buddy and didn't wanna deal with it myself.. _________________ -pariah (just a novice from "that other VW site")

I think there are least 10 other people, including myself waiting for this setup to be unveiled. Whenever Pete gets a version out that works with type 1 heater tubes, lots of people are gonna buy em. |

Wow, I haven't been here in a while...thanks to you folks keeping me busy
I just wanted to let the "heated" guys know, that I have't forgotten about you. i'm getting close to a finished prototype. The key element for me is that not only does it have to work well...it also has to look good. This has been the toughest part.
Anyway, I will post pics this time of the prototype...I'm hoping by next weekend. I actually wanted to work on it this weekend, but, the better half wanted to spend our 39 year anniversary somewhere nicer than the shop
Lastly, thanks to all who have supported the system and all the positive things said here.
more to come..... _________________ pete |

Will the current setup work with a stock fan-shroud with the outlets, just without the tubes, or is it that it interferes with the shroud itself? _________________ Kevin Albrecht

Without the tubes and inlets, it will fit.... _________________ pete |
