This thread was intended as a roll call of surviving Sportsters. Its good you posted the pictures of the one you found here. You should start another thread if you need to ask more questions

You are absolutely correct. I will do that. I can delete my other posts also, if that helps.

It would be very hard to price this without better pictures
What I see is a dual port motor , if running $700 or so
Looks tobe folding windsheild if glass is good $150
Tires and wheels if good $250
Trans core is $150
Front Beam $100
so parting out should bring $1350
I have seen runing driving Sportsters for $3500 around here in CA
Just sold a roller for $900
Good luck

yea thats what I figured thats just the way it was advertised , I think its a home built cause the gas tank has the sender unit. It does have knobs on the windshield and the hinges look like lollipops, has a EMPI emblem on the right side I hope it cleans up

Thanks, the emblem is a stick on I could see on the other side where one was over there. I dont know if its original or not I have not found a tag on it. I know one thing it made out of some thick metal. The back floor to the bed area comes out I havnt taken it out yet but its thick. The eng cover is heavy also. I cant figure out why both taillights are canted but I got to get that fix for sure when it all goes back together. Hope to take that emblem off get it refinished and put it up on the front hood area.

Some updated photos of my Sportster. I removed the rear deck, too noisy. I also replaced the aftermarket chrome air cleaners with the stock unit. The engine seems to run better.

Started piecing mine together. Need to shorten the pan but you get the idea. It'll be dropped a hair with a big motor.

Awesome pics guys!

Ottvw,

Since you have a great shell to work on, If I can suggest a couple of things.

Put a good primer to seal the metal.

The spare tire mount, i would prefer to use spare lug nuts that match the tires you are mounting.

If you go with soft top, get a good quality marine grade canvas.
Keep us up to date.

Thanks!!

I'm planning on doing a proper sealer and paint.

The spare tire will be 4.5" wide brm with matching lug nut. The wheels are 6.5's.

I don't plan on running a top since it'll be a fair weather car

Thanks I noticed looking on the top yesterday that the back hoop is join to the front hoop with what looks to be conduit just squeezed together, it also has a soft doors. My plan is to have it painted semi or flat black with a white half top that top has an extra bow forward of the roll bar that will collaspe if needed. The my neighbor is going to make me a stake bed rails out of oak. The black top looks to have been on there for years.
