A little, but Burros weren't built on a VW chassis and seldom had fenders. They always had an integral engine cage and other than the roll bar(which was bow-legged) were built almost completely with square tube. They were skinned with aluminum.

In a few hours I will be on my way to go pick up an EMPI Sportster that I found about 25 miles from my house. It even comes with a custom trailer that was built using the same lines as the Sportster. I will post some pictures as soon as I can.

1835 Dual Carb

I have been told that this has been a HOT VW featured car. The guy I got it from and the builder are looking for the issue.

I just found an Empi Sportster on CL in Phoenix AZ a few weeks ago. Had a friend down there pick it up for me and stick it in his garage. Have some pictures but havent been down to get it/see it in person yet. Am an old hand at Willys Jeeps (look up Jim Boswell on CJ3B page) and military vehicles, lots of vintage 4x4s but am new and having fun with the VW stuff. Have been researching the sportsters a lot, not much out there, appears I have scored a very old school rig with lots of vintage parts. I also just bought a Cuma fiberglass bodied buggy, very cool body style, have it here in Durango but its been too freakin (-20 at night) cold to play outside. Titled as a 66 VW.

Well, I finally made time to tackle my Empi, it had suffered from years of neglect. Nearly $2000 later with 5 new tires, new carb, distributor, brakes, clutch, cables etc it is a daily driver. I strapped a 50+ year old shovel to the spare tire to make it as ugly as possible and entered it in the local classic car show. Little kids and old guys loved it, gets a lot of funny looks by other drivers. I am having a lot of fun with it, am looking for another one, would like a 4 seater so my daughter can go with. Thanks Samba for the fun and knowledge. Jim
