| If you had to pick one over the other what would it be and why? I'm going to be doing some mild off roading and just general playing around In it. I'd want it street legal so I could drive it around also. |

| It just looks so cool driving a rail down the street. Off road wise what do you prefer? You have a awesome looking rail too |

Had a baja bug when i was 16 was fun to drive and hit trails. Now have a rail.
To me it comes down to what your main use is and budget. If it werent for sand dunes then a baja all the way.I mainly do sand so a rail was the obvious choice.
Now if money was plentiful i would probably be in a baja but it will be set up pretty good too and with turbo subie powered,4 inch longer arms up front,3x5 for rears, coil overs, etc and here in CA street legal! _________________ Click to view image

For the woods, hills and street=Baja
For the sand, woods and hills= Rail
I love my rail, but it sucks to drive in the rain or cold exspecialy cold wet sand or mud. My quad is a lot better in the mud and hills. It has fenders, seat and grip heaters. If I didn't have my 4x4 quad I would build a baja, but I would still keep my sand rail, its just that cool and fun! |

I don't plan on selling the rail in this life time. Those negitives are also the positives of owning a rail |
i couldn't have said it better myself |

I can drive the baja bug to work. if the weather goes sour I can drive the baja bug home in the sour weather
if the weather does not go sour I can take the 5th road home
( We have 5 kinds of road in NM. The main road, the back road, the irrigation ditch road, the off road and the "you call that a road?" ) _________________ 73 Beetle, Ghia front brakes, Type 3 rear brakes, 1776, Solex 34 Pict-3, Bosch SVDA, '97 Mustang seats

| If you have cacti, particularly choya, then a bug offers a great sheild! Bugs are better at keeping things out. But they weigh more. |

You need to think of a Rail as pretty much the same as a Motorcycle as in you are at the mercy of the weather not to mention road conditions.
I have never owned a Baja long story lol. At the time I chose to build a Rail. Main points for me were Lighter/Faster/ And out in the wind just like a Motorcycle but with 4 Wheels and a Frame.
So really in the end it is up to you as to what your needs or wants are. |

I'd go rail, rail or a rail.
If I never sold mine I was going to get a soft top made to carry with me and seal in all the body openings.

AND
ultimately I would like a Manx style long / wide body, fully caged, and build a hard top and have a soft top too and have the body all sealed in = the best of both worlds. Light, safe, fast, fun!

| I think i would have to go with a baja. i look at a baja and thing of what it was before it got cut up and how many things you have to do to get it to the point of a offroad car. its like that was made to be a street car and its still looks like one but know you can haul ass through the desert and for some launch it in the air and have no problem |

| A street legal fiberglass dune buggy is the best of both worlds. |
