| I have a 1966 VW beetle. This has been in my family for almost the entire life of the car, and it is my first car. I have been working really hard to fix it up and now it is the car I drive daily. Today I was driving it across town and I stopped at a light. I had it in 1st gear, hit the gas and tried to go forward. It made a loud kind of scraping noise and was shaking a bit, like they make when you put the car in the wrong gear. After trying for a while I figured out that while the engine is running perfectly, the car just wont go into gear at all. My dad and I need some advice on what this could possibly be. Did the transmission go out or is it just a problem with clutch parts etc? I would really appreciate any help I can be given on this! |

Did the clutch tension change in any way when you first had this problem? Could be the cable. If the cable is fine then go to the clutch plate and throw out bearing. If those are fine then it's in your transmission. _________________ 69 Beetle
