I have a large format printer that prints 13 by 19 inch paper, I thought it would be nice to have a put together large size print out of the very useful color diagram available for download here at The Samba which comes in two parts, so I joined it in Photoshop, it is nice to have around while working the wiring in the bus, very easy to follow a wire all the way back whether you have a large print out like mine or in you PC screen.
Besides putting it together I also cleaned out a few minor stains and discolorations
It is a large JPG for a good quality printout, click on it for full size.

Very nice. Thanks Jose . I copied it and will take it to the copy shop for a couple good large prints. Seems like Busdaddy once recommended having it printed and also laminated. A good permanent copy is great and so are working copies to mark up and all that when troubleshooting. _________________ 71 Superbug

You welcome DBM!
I had a thought about laminating a copy, just need to find who laminates print outs this big

Great job. Your colors are more vibrant than the diagram in "Technical." Years ago, I think it was like in '03, there was a guy at the Carlisle PA import/kit car show that had all of the Bentley colored wiring diagrams and they were laminated in the same size as yours. Wish I knew I was gonna buy a '71 two years later, I would have picked one up. I saved your link and will see if I can do the same thing. Thanks. _________________ '66 Beetle

You have to take the next step and turn it into a tattoo. Maybe a full body tattoo. lol. _________________ Brett

LOL, don't laugh about the T shirt.. get a good clean shirt,, iron it then get your printer going hit the shirt again to keep it hot.
work this out so the as soon as the print pops out the shirt is hot.. lay the print on the shirt iron again, then let it cool.. guess what ..
it's backwards LOL.. set the print on mirror image.. but then if you wear the shirt and are working on your wiring when you look down to do a check..... are yoy looking backwards . or forward ?
I still wanta know where the hell that yellow 4.0 wire came from >? |

Glad you finding the diagram useful, I give all the credit to original uploader, I just put it together for ease of use in certain situations and I am just glad to contribute to this forum that has been incredible in all aspects of VW maintenance and restoration.
Towd,
I done some T-Shirt transfers before, all that needs to be done is flip the image horizontally in you photo editing software of preference, basically a "mirror image" that once printed it will look correct to people looking at it. You can buy the printable transfer paper at any major office supplies, they are fun to do...
The yellow cable #4 you mention is actually brown and in the 71 bay is the ground cable that runs in the middle of the steering column, on top it is hooked up to the spade connector under the horn button and at the bottom it is connected to the under side in of the steering coupler ( the square rubber thing with 4 bolt holes) in between the steering box flange and the coupler itself, this gives the horn circuit a ground that completes when you push on the horn button.

Nice work! and the shirt is cool too.
Now who's going to translate the 73+ style to the pre 73 format? _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

That's a work of art. I want one for my '78. My white ceiling panel would be a good place to transfer it. I'm not kidding. When working under the dash, I'd need only to look up! _________________ 1978 Sage Green Westfalia (Happy Trails, SOLD)
