How difficult is it to install new e-brake cables on a 66 bug?

Normally they are pretty straight forward. Just disconnect both ends, and pull them out. Feed the new ones in....connect and adjust.

I find it's easier if I take the seats out.

How big is a rock?
Seriously though....
You have to remove and install the rear drums, for some this is difficult.
Where the cable clamp enters the backing plate it's like a chinese puzzle, only fits one way but finding the sweet spot can be agravating.
Like Doc said, take the seats out for sure.
Taking the handle out makes it easier too.
Make sure to match the old and new to be sure you've gotten the right ones.
Grease the S out of them as you feed them in.
Adjust brakes first then adjust handle for 4-5 clicks.
Be prepared to re-adjust them too because they will stretch a little when they are used for a while.

I had to do this when I was revamping my Bug when I first got it... It was a bit of a chore, but the chore was running the cable into the drum correctly. Leave one side connected so you can see how it connects.

I was able to do it without any prior knowledge of how to replace them, so it isn't too bad!

Like 61SNRF said, take the e-brake handle out first... it will make it easier!

It's not bad. Make sure you have the correct length cable. I had posted a picture a few weeks back it you need a visual of how it looks installed.
