Anyone find something close to L99F Bahama Blue -- it's a late model dark blue used on the Beetle, Rabbits, etc. Looking for a cheap solution to fix up some spots in the engine compartment. |

There were some questions earlier about Krylon's Bahama Sea Blue...
I can attest that I am reasonably satisfied with its match to Neptune Blue (L50K), which is a color used on bay window buses, like my '78 double cab. The Bahama Sea is a bit light, but close enough for touching up on this working truck that already has many shades of blue on it.
The full name is:

Linda,I think you might want the Rustolium "winter grey" for splash pan...seems to be a closer match to factory than both of the Krylon's mentioned. |

Linda, this one is a bit dark but both of these Rustolium examples have that true Grey hue vs/ the Tannish hue from the Krylons you asked about. Would also be good candidates for a Treasure Chest and fuel tank. |

Thomas???????
Is that "smoke gray" the color of the hub caps or the body color on that bus? |

Anyone get L620 Savannah Beige yet??? |
My dash is still savannah beige, i painted my ash tray 'cover' with Krylon Khaki (gloss) and it's a close, but not exact match. I plan to do the whole car with it. |

A friend of mine just used Krylon smoke gray for his bus
one in the sun
Since Ive not owned an anthracite or mouse gray vehicle not sure what it more closely resembles but comparing other pics to me it looks more like anthracite than mouse |

Well here's the comparison between Krylon Almond and Silver Beige.
Not satisfactory, and not that close to Silver Beige by my eye!
Dont waste your time and money on this unless youre not that particular. |

One thing Ive noticed with all spray can colors, they are mixed in batches and even if the cans have the same name the hue WILL be different between different batches.
I purchased 12 cans of honeydew and 4 of the 12 cans were more beige than green.
As far as the almond, Ive had cans that look more gray and others that look more brown. If you want EXACT matches, off the shelf rattle can is not the way to go. Pay your $25+ per can to have it computer matched or get the WW paint. |

Has anyone had any luck with finding a match for Niagara Blue '71-'72 bus color. I will be trying a few, if there's already a good one I was hoping to not have to go through a bunch of different colors to find the right one. _________________ "Dammit, every time we have a sweet idea the government has to come and screw it up"-Kyle Broflowski

L87 Pearl White- Krylon Almond
|
I have just found that Krylon Ivory is a closer match to L87 Pearl White on my og paint SC than Krylon Almond. FYI |
I had to replace the panel around the windshield washer bottle and brake fluid reservoir in the spare tire well in my Pearl White 62 a while back. Since the weather has now warmed up nicely I decided it was time to paint it. I had some of Krylon Almond, so I used it.
Now, I know my car doesn't exactly match mixed L87, due to the painters I've used in the past custom tweaking the color a bit. It is pretty close, but not exact. So if the paint in the spare tire well was off a little, I thought it wouldn't bother me. But it did, because that Almond was a lot further off than I expected.
So today I went through the spray can aisle at Menards looking at colors. I chose Rustoleum Canvas White. Resprayed the area tonight and found I was much happier with that one. It is still not a match, but it's much closer.

I was using Krylon gloss black on my bug, but then the local HD ran out. So I went to Lowes and bought some Rustoleum gloss enamel and that works a charm. Goes on better and is holding up well. |

I see a number of people looking for L90D Pastel White. My bus is this color and I've done a bit of research and planning on testing a couple soon. The two closest matches I've narrowed it down to based on info I've found is:
Rustoleum Painter's Touch Ivory Bisque
Rustoleum Antique White
I'm going to try both soon and report back. _________________ Visit the Vintage Volkswagen Parts & Tech Wiki today!

Yeah, I considered both of those when I chose that Rustoleum Canvas White as mentioned/showed above. If you can, post a photo or two of how it turns out, like I did.

From page 1 the first post
L456 Ruby Red- Krylon Cherry Red
L456 Ruby Red- Rustoleum Regal Red
No pics of the regal
Krylon Cherry red vs. L456 Ruby red
Close but not as deep as true L456 ruby red, it is a little more bright red than the ruby. Its reported that Rustoleum Regal Red is a closer match.
