I am trying to find out the correct carpet color in German square weave for my original Lotus White 67 bug. WW has a choice of Medium Grey or Charcoal. The original carpet is long gone so I am not sure what it had and I want it to be as correct as possible. Garwoods book says Lava, so I assume that is Charcoal? Anybody know for sure? |

Sorry I cannot help you with the color. But I will tell you that I just finished yesterday installing new German square weave carpet from Wolfsburg West in my 1960 bug. I am so impressed with the quality and fit of their rug. I had bought the firewall rubber mat with the carpet kit and they sewed that on the carpet. Light dimmer switch and m/c pushrod lined up perfectly. On the 60 you have a choke cable and the fuel reserve valve that goes through the firewall carpet side. Absolutely perfect fit. They suggest using a hot iron with a damp cloth on places where the carpet fits around curves. This works well. Perhaps the WW carpet is a little thicker than the original. Regardless, it really finishes the car off so nicely. It is so nice to have a product that you do not have to major modify to make it work. The kit is not cheap but the quality is there. |
