Excellent build. I love all the thought you are putting into this. I do have a question on the side pods though. I have been thinking about putting some on mine when I start the rebuild> How much space is there between the actual sidewall of the buggy and the sidepod? I have been thinking about cutting some holes in the side of the buggy and glassing up some boxes for storage before glassing on the sidepods, I just don't know how much room is in between there

It will depend on where you cut the hole. there is room in there for a storage place not sure what you want to put in there. I would say there is about 6 inches of room maybe more. Maybe some one else could answer this better. I was also thinking of something like that, but have not got that far.

Thanks for the reply. I guess hole was the wrong word to use. I was thinking more of a rectangle about 2 to 3 feet long and about 10 to 12 or so inches high, then building a box a little larger than the opening, a place for sunglasses, sunscreen. waterbottle, you konw that small stuff that ends up floating all over the inside of the buggy.

On mine you maybe have about 5" at the wides part of the side pod. I use my pods as a sort of speaker box for my 6" speakers. By the way Len, the exhaust coming out of the pods would be really cool. I'm sure you would have to somehow heat shield the paint around the area though.

Streetbuggy, I was looking at the g-down exhaust but I think I may try to make my own. I was going to go to the junk yard and see what I could find off of another car.. It my be just a vent on the side if I cannot come up with an exhaust.
Greg, streetbuggy would be more correct since he cut his open.

I'm not familiar with that carb but it looks pretty cool, when you add the stacks it will attract lots of attention and questions. I think I'd trim as little from the body as is practical, I'd take the existing cut out on the body up to accomodate just what is needed and all the way across the existing opening, keeping the opening symetrical. Your build is progressing nicely, keep up the great work.

gr8cobbler, That is what I was thinking also. The only problem is that the carb is not quite centerered a little off to the left. I only have to remove a little off the top to clear. If I go all the way across ther will not be enough on the bottom under the carb. I will get the foam out and play around with it.

Looks cool - BMW, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, and others offered angled or 90-degree intake velocity stacks & filter bases for DCOE carb setups...

But due to runner length & lack of sufficient heat on intake manifold, you'll end up with fuel dropping out of suspension & puddling will occur - I'm not aware of anyone that ever managed to get the side draft intake to work well on a T1 motor for the street. However - this COULD form the basis of a slick port fuel injection intake setup...

Nice. Will more than likely need spacers for those too. What color are you gonna paint the body?

Paint? not that far yet, I will pick a color when I am at the paint counter Razz I can get these wheels with a custom offset. I was going with a 4" back space for the back and 5"B/S on the front.
