Thanks for the responses so far.

couple footnotes: I have found Chuck's and ordered some parts today. I was able to locate a fellow Samba member who has windows, frames and cranks etc. I have sourced several smaller items from here on the Samba. Can't beat it.

so a lot of parts on the way or will be shortly so I can get closer to getting this ride back on the road.

may have some more questions once I get to assembly phase.

and yes, Bentley. I forgot I had one from my first initial 63 sedan project. it was buried in he cabinet. would love color photos but can't beat all the info.

thanks again for responses

Dang Gilbert. looks great, hope you get every penny of your reserve and then some, I have a good idea what went into building it.

Not enough going on with my car. The seats are done

Ron, the guy how is doing otherwise a great job on my car, ordered the wrong color canvas for the top (should have been black)

I know some prefer this color but I want black. So now we are waiting for the black top to arrive. In the mean time Ron cut his hand pretty bad on a grinder so some more delay is expected Sad Hope better news soon.

BTW I got a pair of Frese stone guards but apparently they do not fit.

Ron told me they are not wide enough and do not wrap around the fender completely. Anyone experienced the same? Are there different sizes? Any advise appreciated.

Marcel

WE've been driving the convertible around, really happy with it. The only problem is that damn accelerator pedal assembly. The pedal wants to twist and bind, so I have welded a brace to the bracket to firm it up but it still is a problem. Anyone else have difficulties with their two piece pedal assembly? Almost makes me want to put a '68 and later one piece pedal assembly in.

[quote="lovethatconvertible"]Bump: OK where the hell is Bret?

I was just wondering the same thing. I tried to email him. We'll see if he replies. I know he was in the hospital a while back with some serious jaw surgery and had some infection problems. Hope everything is going okay. Get well Brett, we are missing you here!

Thanks Rich, going to show my freshly restored 58 rag @Solvang next weekend, added rag, semiphores, Wvert decklid and 51 pinstripe seats and panels, very funky.

Whats up with that paint code that was on your 50 split, got a few weeks before i paint the 56 Kombi.
