This thread needs a refresh! What is up with you convertible guys? Braukuche, lovethatconvertible, pancho (I am still dying to hear that engine and exhaust!) and the rest? Any updates on your cars?
Now that I am almost ready to put my vert into the garage for a well deserved winter break I look back at a great first summer after the restoration was completed. I attended quite a few events here in The Netherlands and even won three awards! Weather has been pretty good, considering normal Dutch wheather conditions (cold and rainy) with quite some sunshine and many warm days. Perfect for cruisin topless ! So I could not have been more happy !
I still have a few small things to sort out but overall my car has been performing very good with the 1956 (former industrial) 36hp engine but perhaps for the future I would like some more power to keep up with traffic on the highway. I am sure by that time I will get lots of inspiration and advise here!
Hope all of you will have a very short winter !
Marcel

Not Much going on with my 1960, I've been over in Europe for the last 5 weeks.
I did manage to order some wood bows so I can finally start on my top. I've got a long way to go, to catch up with you guys. But I'm pluggin' away at it. I've been having fun trying to get all my bolts and nuts and all other tidbits OE German, so I'm pretty much caught up on that, except for the Running Boards and Moulding which are WW, but I like these parts, so they stay. I scored a 4-Tab so I'll be Painting it to match and getting rid of the Flat 3 Tab. Found a SE code T handle in my parts box that I didn't realize I had, so I re-keyed it to my ignition, door and glovebox key. The weather's been stellar here in Vegas since I've been home, so I've been puttin' around town in the
Ol' girl. 0 to 60 in 11 minutes, yep it's a monster.
You Beetle Looks Fantastic Marcel. And yeah this Thread is starting to die or at least moving at a snails pace, would like to see more updates from everybody including the man of mystery,(Brett)

Good to hear you are making at least some progress John. Although I am a fan of whitewalls and accessories I really like the simple and clean look of your car but you really need to finish that top!
Where in Europe have you been? Anywhere close to Holland?

I guess you could call it business, although I love my gig. We were there for 3 days, the Band i work with did the ZIGGO Dome. We left the morning of the big storm that blew thru. Really sorry I missed seeing your Beetle, and meeting you. |

Very Nice Pancho, Have any times to report? Your engine looks pretty damn cool. That rear shot make's your engine appear to be already marking it's territory. |

Hi folks, its been a good year, all the cars are healthy and resting in their garage as well, covered properly.
Early this year I had a 944 parted out to obtain the brakes and spindles, last week I dropped them off along with the front beam and spindles from my 56 Euro bus to be overhauled welded and narrowed, picking up tranny today (type 1) to take a second trip down to Old Speed.
3in or 4in narrowed beam, hhhmm haven't decided yet, but for sure slammed.
I removed the bulk head and bench seat a pal needed and I decided to install 1 of my 356 seats, very cool IMOP.
My other project is my 1972 Lambo Jarama with removable panels, 177 cars produced and only 20 with panels.
Electric gremlins removed, head lamps, turn signals, running lights, brake lights, radiator fans, fuel pump, starter, etc all on line.
New tires, painted magnesium wheel, and I am cutting and installing my own carpet kit this weekend.
I purchased for new points for distributor and yet to install but maybe next weekend.
Also I rattled can the Lambo flat black and removed the hood, I cant help it I am and outlaw!!!
I don't believe Mr. Everett would care for photos of a Lambo on his Kick Ass web site. Maybe I could sneak it in with a VW in the back ground |

Does anybody know where it is possible to get the window guide rails for the doors? I've looked through the parts for sale but the is only one who sells a Complete set inc. Windows and frames. I only need the guide rails! Repop? |
If Needed I can remove my Guide Rails out of my 60' and take measurements and pictures for you. They should be pretty easy to fab up if you have a sheet metal shop in your area? |
Late answer on this one, but if that is still possible I would be very greateful since Im having a hard time finding others:-( |

This is the current state of my 1960 vert.
As you can see quite a bit of work is being done to it.
I've got all the panels that I need now, except the strengthener panel that fits in the drivers side footwell. As shown here someone has cut it so it does not fit found the heater channel:
Would anyone have one from a 58 - 60 vert ? Or do you know of later ones fit?
I have created a wanted ad as well. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1566985
Many thanks |

Surprised that RareAir hasn't responded as he just finished an awesome convertible not to long ago. Anyway I've read good things about West Coast Metric rubber. I've still got a ways to go on this, but am leaning towards them. |
