Hey, All:
Any local(ish) shows coming up soon in the Tampa Bay Area?
I think there's a show in Pass-a-grille on September 1st, then Pasco Bug Jam in November. Anything else?
Also, anyone know if the last Saturday of each month is still VW Nite at Old Town in Kissimmee?
Haven't been to a VW show in a couple years and I'm jonesing to get to one. Been out of town, so missed everything this Spring.

August 17th is "Hippie Fest" on the Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks. It's a fun time with lots of Greek restaurants on the docks and a food truck rally added in.

Hey, Unpopular:
I'm in Tampa-ish. A little to the east. I'd forgotten about Hippie Fest. I'll have to try to get up there. VWs and gyros. Can't beat that!!

If you're on facebook search for "Local Volks". We have 250 members in this area that drive VW's. We meet all the time! _________________ "In any racing engine, the nearer you are to it disintegrating, the better it's performance will be"

Awesome. Thank you. I'll check it out.
I was never a member, but I remember back in the day things like the Tampa Bay Aircooled Society, St. Pete Air Cooled Enthusiasts, etc. It looks like most everyone's folded up shop since then. I'm eager to see who and what else is still around.
I'm lucky enough to live kinda sorta near Sundance Bug and Buggy and work a few miles from Fisher. So, I'm rearing to get my Beetle back on the road soon.

Well, we aren't an official club, we have no dues, and no officers, etc. We did this on purpose to avoid the typical club headaches. We are just a group of people with VW's who like to get together.
We do a Monthly Meat on a saturday a month, alternating between Pinellas and Hillsborough counties (to make it fair to everyone). Next month we're meeting somewhere in Hillsborough (still finalizing plans).
Please find us and join the group. we want to be the one source for info on VW meets in this area! _________________ "In any racing engine, the nearer you are to it disintegrating, the better it's performance will be"

That sounds awesome. With the wife and kids and all the last-minute family things I get dragged into, I make a horrible club member anyways. I hardly ever make it out to meetings and such. I've submitted my request to join the group on FB. I look forward to checking out all the local VW stuff.
Thanks again for the heads up.

No problem at all. I just did. My browser's been acting weird, so I thought maybe it was cookie issue or something. I've re-requested
Thanks.

Gotcha this time! On the left side of your news feed, under "groups" you should see "local volks". That's us! _________________ "In any racing engine, the nearer you are to it disintegrating, the better it's performance will be"

I ended up not going myself. I'm working overnights, and I worked Friday night and Saturday night, so I just wasn't feeling it. From all the reports, it was hot as hell, then poured, then was nice. 80 cars in attendance. _________________ "In any racing engine, the nearer you are to it disintegrating, the better it's performance will be"

The location is only 20 miles south of the Sunshine Skyway. We will have live music, corn hole, volley ball, bounce house for kids, there is a very nice skate park very close by for the older kids, one of the most spectacular sunsets, food, drinks, free parking, etc, etc.
We are having a show flyer done up and will have 100% of the details spread out through the Samba ASAP.
For those not camping, there is a nice hotel (Courtyard) very close by. No specials yet with them but working on it. |
