No to this, I feel we would get into arguing over what is or is not restored as this commonly happens in the many Whine threads.

Here are the results for the VWs and some Porsches sold at the Monterey area auctions that ended a week ago.

Rick Cole --
1956 Porsche 356 Speedster ($303,600)
http://rickcole.com/1956-porsche-356-speedster/
1973 Porsche 914-6 ($45,522) apparently it originally was a 4 cyl.
http://rickcole.com/1973-porsche-914-6/

RM Auctions --
Lot 259 - 1966 Volkswagen 21-Window Deluxe Micro Bus
Sold for $110,000
http://www.rmauctions.com/results/result.cfm?SaleCode=MO14

Russo and Steele --
1965 Volkswagen 21 Window Deluxe (You have to sign-in to find out the price.)
http://www.russoandsteele.com/past-collector-car/1965-Volkswagen-21-Window-Deluxe/90091

Gooding & Company --
Lot 104 - 1967 Volkswagen Type 2 Camper ($99,000)
http://www.goodingco.com/results/realized/?cat=33

Several Ferraris were sold -- one for $38 million!, but I found only three VWs. Barrett-Jackson wasn't represented.

Shocked
This is why I probably will never own a split window.

I've seen comparable and even more desirable Buses for far, far less.

Auction sales are not a good representation of fair market value.

I'm surprised it took 3 + 1/2 years to break the old record of $217,800 after buyer's fees. That was also a 23 window.
Read the last two sentences of the Jalopnik article; I know a lot of people on The Samba feel the same.
http://jalopnik.com/5815611/this-is-what-a-217800-1965-volkswagen-bus-looks-like

I wonder how much more than $128,700 this 1963 Bus towing an Eriba Puck camper is now worth after selling at that price in Jan. 2012.

Here is a longer thread in the Barndoor section about this recently 1955 Barndoor Deluxe sale:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=611881

This Bus is definitely worth more than the previous 1963 Bus that held the record.

Their web site could be a bit more user friendly. I can't figure out which day a particular car will be auctioned unless I click on a one of nine days. For example, Lot 1502 - 1966 VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE is being auctioned on Sunday the 18th but the link you provided doesn't tell me that.

A 1962 Westfalia restored for 100-110k, auctioning on Jan 16 2015.

The good news is the guys buying these have so much cash that when the kids get bored with their estate, they busses will get dumped for much, much less.

Ridiculous pricing. The 110k bus even comes with blue screamer Bosch coil....

I was wondering when that gas monkey bus was going to show up at an auction. They couldn't sell it then, but some idiot will buy it now.

That Thing sold for $18,700. I thought $38,500 was too good to be true. http://www.barrett-jackson.com/Events/Event/Details/1974-VOLKSWAGEN-THING-CONVERTIBLE-180903 (Their website isn't working as of the time of this post.)

I think the owner of the 1987 Vanagon got gypped. Ones looking that good often go for 3 to 4 times the $7700 he got, like these -- http://www.westfalia-enterprises.com/#/1990-white-camper/4521036763
http://www.westfalia-enterprises.com/#/1986-gold-camper/4521864862

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/search.php?...ton=Search
Of course, that's asking price.
