Good job, indeed! That's pretty badass. Do the Omaha VW club people drive AC cars and meet often? The Tulsa VW Club is primarily for vanity it seems like. Got any plans for your bus?

Yes we all drive AC cars but of course there a few "kids" with WC cars. I've been looking at a 83 Cabby. Anyway we could all qualify for the Toyota club too because in the winter here, we all show up for a cruise in Toyotas except for one person in a bug. We have monthly meetings, the board *cough* me *cough* meet the week before the monthly meeting. At the local AC shop here in Omaha, we have the option to go out every Thursday night and hang out. Before I arrived they had an engine rebuild class. Now they just teach me on my own, as I go, and yes I rebuilt a type 4 engine. We have camp outs about twice a season, we are good friends...I find myself hanging out with 60 year old guys more than people my own age. Haha. As far as my bus goes I've made up my mind to fix a few things here and there, pretty her up where I can and drive her....for now. In a few years when I'm finished getting my RN I may chose to restore her (by 4 years the prices will be EVEN more expensive for parts).

Nice...sounds like the ideal club! I've been getting involved with a group in town that is strictly air-cooled, they are much different from the vw club of tulsa. they're all cool as hell super chill people. I haven't been around much though because my bus is always out of commission Laughing

RN is a respectable title indeed, good luck with that. I myself opted for Radiography, and am going to college for it right now. (my main motivation is more money for more buses Twisted Evil )

^The reception hall

So tonight I decide to attend a wedding of a friend....well of course I gotta take Lucy Rolling Eyes . So we set out, make it fantastic to the cathedral and the reception. I eat, dance, chat, the regular wedding hooplah. At about 7:30 I decide to go home. Walk out and smell gas, walk round and well yea there's gas....everywhere. So I crawl under to see if there is a line undone. I found the old line from my old mechanical fuel pump and thought that was the issue. Which was stupid assumption number 1.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

^ What I thought was the problem, wasn't even a working fuel pump anymore...durr. (Man I really need to start knowing what I've got going on, I blame my blondness).
I'm covered in oil and gas by this time. After a few calls and nobody willing to help due to being busy, not knowing what I'm talking about or not in town, I open my hatch and I be darn find my leak....my Tee connector that connects my carbs to my electric fuel pump is leaking. People are coming out asking me stupid dumb questions about my bus and what I'm doing. Well management decides to come out and yell at me because of the smell and tell me to leave because it's private property.
I break into tears. Crying or Very sad I have $10, phone is dead, no gas, no fuel line or clamps and I'm frustrated. Just my luck, it decides to rain. So I sit in the rain, crying and pray to God for some help. My biological dad shows up, he lives near by (and was supposed to help me from the beginning with the bus, but is not a real big part of my life...you'll see why).
He hands me fuel line and clamps and he decides to fill it up with gas. I nicely tell him I'm not comfortable with driving the bus home. Stupid decision number 2. Only because what? I don't want my bus to catch on fire, I don't want to blow up, owe a restaurant a ton of money, ruin a wedding or kill us all?!? Well he gets mad and throws the gas cap at my eye and races off. Ouch!! Confused So now I'm stuck.
Just when I thought it couldnt get any worse.... Stupid assumption number 3...the cops show up. I get up from the ground and walk over. They ask me what I'm doing. Im a little crabby at this point of my night. I tell them I'm obviously trying to fix my car and ask them why they are watching me. They reply with "you looked suspicious, all covered in oil and all, was just seeing what was going on". I snap back with "you've never seen a girl work on a car, here let me give you a tour of what the hell I'm doing. You see this? Well it's leaking something called gas. I've had enough for the night and would appreciate it if you could leave me alone please, let me concentrate, and you could go do something useful like go stop some drug dealers!" Evil or Very Mad Mad
Finally at 9:00 I give in, and call AAA. The AAA guy was super cool, and he even pushed my bus into the driveway. What a night. What did you do on YOUR Saturday night? Wink

Ready for another funny story?
Yesterday was the annual OVWC Fall Cruise. We started out at Performance VW in Omaha and were going to Shelby, IA (about 45 mins away, without any issues). Lucy started out fine in the morning, we made it to Performance, hung out with the guys for about an hour. And then started to leave. Of course they put me third in line. Everyone ends up passing me, for some reason I cant catch up. About halfway through all of a sudden I can't get up hills. I wasn't getting fuel, so first thing I thought was (excuse my language) "oh shit, I have yet another gas leak" so little old me stops in the middle of the road, turns on my hazards and sits there. Luckily Greg, with his Vanagon which has a Chevy v8 engine in the back stops, pushes me to a parking lot and Mark, who drove his Tacoma because his bug quit working helped me out BIG time.

I let them do their thing, trying not to get in the way. Turns out the problem is well.....everything. My rotor was bad, carbs weren't synced, valves need a tune up, linkage was almost hanging and I was running on 3 cylinders. They fix a few issues, drive it around a bit. I'm still weary to drive super far but they stand...or drive by me.

(While I was on the side of the road my mom called, asked how I was doing, and how the bus ran, sadly I had to tell a white lie that she was running great, my mom is pretty fed up with the bus at this point Sad so she does not know, and will never know)

We call the rest of the group who are at one of our "pit stops" while on the cruise to tell them we will be a little bit and to go on ahead of us. But we need one person to stay there to show us the way, they give us the okay. We slowly make it to the "pit stop" and to my eyes, everyone waited. They could've left, but they waited for me. That made my day.

I unfortunately wasn't the only one broken. We had Mark with his bug, and Terry with his 15 window.

So anyway we get to the farm, they fix a few more problems, she ran good there. Ate, shot a 9mm pistol, watched the bonfire and threw a engine case in it to watch the magnesium. Had a great time. About 9 o'clock I decide its time to go. Lucy STILL didn't run right on the way home, but luckily I made it. Now I'll have to figure this out by next weekend, or in two weeks at least for when I drive to Peru, NE for a bus event. Last year I tented it, which sucked. This year I'll have a bus there, if it breaks the bank or not. *sigh*

I had a wonderful date with my boyfriend this weekend.....working on VWs Laughing We changed a relay for his fog lights. The wonderful thing about dating each other is not only do we share the love for VWs, but we can get greased up (naughty mind), lay under a car and laugh at each other when we have to run to AutoZone for parts....and it's fun. Here are some pics of my babe:
