I've been hunting for one I think it's A keeper.Might be getting together with A few other bay campers this week for A breakfast pancake cook-camp out. Needs little things full tune up new fuel lines and other hoses.the fuel lines have mold on them from sitting never seen that before. Muffler gaskets are shot tranny pops out of 4th and lots of cleaning and lubing sticky stuff up.

Found this on a farm in Indiana. Don't know if it applies to "bus hunting" as it is completely dead. Aside from the front emblem, front suspension, front seat frames and maybe the dash there is little left of this poor bastard.
The owners daughter allowed me to snap a few shots of it, but he wasn't home. I may go back for the little bits and see if he'll take a few bucks for it. I'm sure he has no plans for this thing. Probably gave up it's trans for a buggy.

This applies perfectly to the bus hunting thread. Great photo and story.

The split bus hunting thread is possibly my favorite, but I don't own a split and I'm constantly coming across Bays here and there. Usually none of them are worth putting back on the road as the motor and transmissions are gone and the bodies are generally crap. I'll post more when I have a chance to get out and shoot some more.

Post 'em up. Part of hunting for them is finding chaff along with the wheat. But we all love to see the pics and read the stories of how they were found.

Amen.

I just got this one texted to me, my son's girlfriend 'found' it about 2 miles from her house. Looks like it has been there for a while she says, but she walked around it and it looks complete. Sunday I'll go see if I can scare up the owner.

That's got some good bones. Is that a square in the field beyond it?

I had to dig very deep to find this picture. my one and only bay window, I bought it from a fellow named Raul up in CT, originally a CA bus, the bus was in the mid point of its life, where it had spent a good portion of its life in good weather, but it was starting to deteriorate because of the northeast winters. When it ran nice it ran nice, and I drove it to all the shows packed full of parts all the time, but when it ran shitty it ran shitty, and that was the majority of the time, it always gave me problem with the number 3 valves, so I had to keep adjusting it, until one day it just sank completely, and there was nothing left to adjust.
I parked it and sold it on E-Bay a couple of years later for $105.75

Following a tip on VWs spotted, I went out and found this guy. '68 Deluxe in Savannah Beige. Been sitting since 1986, one owner. Didn't pay the repair bill and it sat out back slowly being parted. Even with the doors off, the rust is minimal. Clean rockers, etc. Still has the middle seat and title. No motor and trans tho. Sad

Dunno what I'll do with it really.

Here are a few bay window finds from the past. The red 69 was found in a Texas VW junkyard near San Antonio where it had been sitting for 27 years, and the blue 68 was found on a farm outside of Emporia, KS.

Don't worry Corey, your Baywindow fetish is safe with me.

I picked up that 71 from Eric last weekend.
