I have to say, Seattle is the Southern California of the north. I was there last July and was really surprised at the air cooled VW's I saw around town. Lots of bus's, Vanagons and bugs. I saw more VW's there than I do driving around Metro Phoenix. _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

Hey sorry I didnt get around to posting more pictures but good news, after putting the engine in a day ago and finally hooking up the rest of the wiring, vacuum lines and the engine cross member which ive never installed before considering out of my last two aircooleds they were both beetles and didnt have one. (1958 & 1965). went to the Safeway gas station and filled up two gallons of premium gas for $6.10, with the price for premo at $3.05 a gallon how do you say no..back to the house I went put the two gallons in and prime the fuel line, the problem was I couldnt get fuel into the inline filters so without waisting time I ran inside to grab the new pump I bought from octobugfest swap meet, i paid ten for it. After carving a gasket out for it because i.couldnt wait to start it. After plugging in Pertronix and the coil it started up first try, no having to adjust carb or distributor and this bus had not run since 2005. Volkswagen is not just for today, its forever! Thanks for the support guys means alot since im new to the bus game |

^^^ very nice. If I am recalling correctly, in '05 we still had real gas, the ethanol blend mandate had not struck us yet. If that tank/carb/fuel pump had ethanol in it, I could almost guarantee a different outcome with that sort of down time.
Looking forward to seeing this bus some day. Post up some post-scrubbing-to-remove-the-moss pics. _________________ nothing |

Nah, I don't do the mallet thing either. Nor the Purple Rain, but I did find my way here because I dragged home a 71 Westy last weekend that sat for 25 years and I'm very excited about bringing it back to life and camping in it!
After looking for an early bay Westy for some time, I spotted this one glimmering out in the San Diego mountains. It took a few weeks before I got the green light to pick it up. The owner liked my 66 bug and thought that I should have the bus so he took my offer.

The green bus is for sale. Today I stopped by but no answer. I am not really a buy it flip it kinda guy but could easily be if I had the means. Anyway I like to share my finds and I have reaped reward just from paying it forward. I didn't find mine today but today is the day you get to see and hear about it. While riding in my brothers 66 SO42 Westy I got bit once again by the "bug" or should I say BUS. He told me about a Westy out behind some old man's barn. I contacted the oner and he was fine with my interes and this is what I found.
Sat there since last driven somewhere around 1989-90. A tree had managed to grow between the bumpers and body. Somehow they did absolutely no damagefrom growing there. So I drug it home after
he owner and his son decided that my lowball $200 offer was ridiculous and felt that it was at least worth twice that much. So I bit the bullet and paid up. Here it is currently awaiting warmer weather to weld in some metal and finish installing 95 % new brake components.

craigslist, Wausau , Wisconsin:
late bay on a Snowmobuggy chassis:

No idea how much money. He said 71 bus, but later than that, I say 78-79 cause of the slider windows.
Probably a pretty nice thing where you have lots of feet of snow and need to move people around in it.
