Maybe someone smarter than me can lift the pictures from c/l, put them in Samba gallery?
Probably a pretty nice cabin!

Bought our first 1973 bus!
I am new here and don't really know much about them, but we love the look and the thought of fixing it up and going on trips in it! She obviously needs some work and a good cleaning, but she runs and we drove her 3 hours home with no problems! She was listed on Craigslist for $5,000 and we got her for $2,500!
The smudge on the door was actually a mural of a fish. I think it can just be buffed out.

Found this rust free gem of a Bay by searching for rat rods on my local CL. Saw it in the background of the photo and sent the owner and email. Ended up snagging it for a cool $400. No interior except front seats and no motor. But that will all come.
I already have my Wagens West "Slam Bay Special" lowering kit on its way along with some new wheels. I'm building a mild 1904 to power it. Should be fun to stay up with traffic on the freeway now.
Will have a build thread on it soon.

Here are a couple that I have saved so far... the white one is a 73 auto and the yellow is a 69 I believe, I also saved a 70 westy and a 71 tintop. The 73 was about the absolute worst for rust so it is being done first, hopefully primer and paint in the next 2 weeks. The other 3 all need engines, which I have aquired an abundance of parts so now all I need is a little knowledge and I am gonna build some engines for them.

I wonder what the date codes on some of the bodywork and electrical items say?, it wouldn't be the first time an M plate had a minor typo and the VIN is awfully high for such a supposedly early bus _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

I would bid about $25.00 on that one. I think that is usually the opening bid. _________________ Karl Bower |

My girlfriend and I had been searching for a Bay camper for a while. We recently picked this up locally. I am new to air-cooled VWs, but not old German cars. I have much to learn... So much.

So last weekend I went & looked at a 1969 Westy @ a shop in Greenwich Ct.
Very nice Bus, a Friend that I worked for 30 + years ago asked me to do a "Check it out" trip, good looking Westy, I hope he buys it...

Looks like a nice bus. Good on you for helping out an old friend.
I see from the weather that spring has not quite made it to the Northeast yet, eh? _________________ nothing |
