What i have done and seems to work for me is to put it in 3rd gear and rock the bus back and forth, go and tap the solenoid and then turn the belt by hand a few revolutions.
This seems to unstick the solenoid especially after some hot weather in the Napa Valley. I would try this before you start going down a rabbit hole with potential fixes.
It has worked for me a few times! |
Isn't fixing the problem a better idea that messing around like that though? |
What exactly is the problem that you can fix Iain? Lights on but no start? Fix what exactly?
In my experience it is just a stuck solenoid and needs a little rocking, but don't take my word for it. Go ahead and pull it all apart and "fix it" _________________ Three 1971 VW buses |

You find out why your solenoid is sticking, Tcash posted some possible solutions for you earlier.
Maybe I'm strange just preferring getting in my camper and turning the key to start it. _________________ 1977 Bay window Devon Moonraker, 1600 type 1 engine. |

Not seen that since I was invited to a screening before it came out.
I can understand using tricks like 3rd gear and rocking it if stranded at the side of the road, but I'd fix it once home. _________________ 1977 Bay window Devon Moonraker, 1600 type 1 engine. |
