That looks like a pretty well done conversion. Not super crazy about the tail lights or super louvered hood, but looks pretty darn good. Any more pics?
still in the works? |

Talk about a way to increase air in the cabin!
I actually think the grill would look better if it had bumpers to set it off. |

Just got it a couple weeks ago. Debating on putting a bumper on the front, I think it would look better so will probably go that route. I LOVE the rear end of the car however.....I would like some old school slotted (chrome) rims for it and I also have a new trunk (hood) for it since I am not a fan of the louvers. Also, drop the front end about an inch.
Interior is done and very nice, may change steering wheel to a 13" blue flake from Mooneyes. My first VW in over 30 years and so far really enjoying it. Been in the Muscle Car and then Hot Rod world for many years so this is a cool change. |

Interesting, I was expecting to see some kind of v-6 or a Subaru conversion in the front with that opening. Looks like it was from an early Volvo...? One that was similar looking to a ghia?
Was there an intention of converting this car? |

Not sure of intention. I do believe it's an early Volvo front end. To me it kinda gives it a Shelby Cobra look. It's my first Ghia, my first VW in over 30 years. Really like it. |

Yep, or an Austin Martin/Heeley...or there abouts... that's why I think a set of bumpers (maybe just a blade type, no towel bar) would look really good. |

You are thinking of Volvo P1800, and I agree, it looks a bit like that. But its more Austin Martin to me. _________________ 65 DD klenbus

I got this 73 yesterday, been going to see the lady (2nd owner since 1977) who owned it every spring to try and buy it and was pleasantly surprised when she said she was ready to sell. Hasn't run for a couple of years but will try and remedy that shortly. Got it cleaned up and it's not as nice as i thought/hoped but it's ok.

Kerry67 you need to flip your side mirror base so it's not pointing up in the air.
