I come from Vietnam. There is some VW old bug club in Vietnam but a few bus, almost for transport and they're really old.
I bought a VW T2 from a primary school and I'm making a plan to restore it.
I have some problems with door, windows, rubber. Please show me how to restore it. It's no parts in Vietnam so I have to order and ship from other country. This is my bus's photos:
After clean:
Thank you.

welcome! cool bus, very rare in Vietnam i bet!
what kind of resto did you have in mind? want it to be like new or custom?
to go back to stock would be incredibly expensive.
what do you want to do?
have any pictures of the engine? _________________ May of '72 Deluxe. 2.0L L-Jet CS & 091 trans conversion

I don't recall ever seeing a non walk thru bay that wasn't a double cab. Cool. _________________ "When my ship comes in I'll be at the airport"

Thank you all.
There are about 70-100 old bugs in Vietnam but about under 10 - 15 buses.
Some split buses (maybe 1-2).
They use buses as school bus or transport. It's no genuine parts in Vietnam.
I bought my bus from a primary school. I want to build it like Westfalia, with bed and cabinet. Last weekend me and my wife go around about 50km by my bus, It's really cool.
Now I have big problems with window rubber and sliding door, water drops inside when it rains . Could I use window rubber of other car?
It's really hot in Hochiminh City in Vietnam whole year, and my bus no aircon, no fan
I will take some photos of engine to show you. |

maybe a parts place in Europe is closer to you for shipping? if so www.justkamper.com with have all you need for most of your restoration
if you want parts from parts dealers here in the USA go to www.busdepot.com and search your heart out.
my suggestion is to only buy VW or german parts where ever possible. Only ever buy German door seals Etc.
Best of luck on your projects. _________________ Special Thanks to:

Here are some pictures of my 78 Non Walk Thru Bus. I got lucky and was able to save it from being sent off to Pick A Part.
Bought it from the daughter of the original owner. She didn't drive stick shift, and after her father passed away, she parked it.
Almost got him running. Still having problem with the fuel pump. Hope the pictures help you out. Let me know if you need any specific pictures taken.
Came with lots of extra parts such as 3 tires, engine seal, extra glass
and 2 windows. The slider behind the driver is broken. Wish you luck with your new bus from Sunny California. _________________ 77 Westy named Tiki - Daily Driver 80 miles a day!

Yes, it has a sliding window on the sliding door and one behind the driver. The one behind the driver is broken. There are two extra slider windows sitting on the back seat, that i will install as time permits. I will take pictures for you of the windows for you, both the ones mounted and the extra ones and post them tomorrow, since it is already dark here in California. _________________ 77 Westy named Tiki - Daily Driver 80 miles a day!

Yeah, I have a 78 with a bulkhead.... browse my photos and you'll find lots of pics. PM me if you want anything in particular snapped. I'd be happy to help.
There are also a couple "non-walk through" threads with pics. _________________ 78 Kombi, 65 Bug, 69 Baja Bug, 63 Camper Van, 66 Bug, 72 Bug, 60 Ghia |

you have a switch like this?
for getting parts you may try Australia, maybe Ratcamper may have some leads. _________________ 70 Westy, 2027cc "dual DRLA 40 m130 i55 wjdoc a165 p33 v30 "w100 straight cut 040 polished heads 1.25 rockers 1.5 A1sidewinder supertrapp muffler trans 091 coil SUM-850500 CDI universal svda Pertronix
