you gotta wonder why people even bother answering a question with out reading it first, where in his question did he ask about dropped spindles??? eurofifty... how much do you want to narrow your beam, then we can talk about your options.

Hey Jeff, I have the same question. How much was your 67 narrowed? I was kinda thinking maybe 2-3 inches for mine? But my biggest concern was inner fender wells. Cutting them is out of the question so I guess maybe how much could be done without cutting them. Im doing a body-off 67 and haven't got to the front beam tear-down yet. But from looking it looks like it couldn't be narrowed too much without the inner well interference. Any help greatly appreciated. BTW, your bus is lookin sweet.

well with a balljoint car you have much more room to move than link-pin. i would think you could go 3 inches without any body mods, my 67 was 5 inches with only slight inner well mod. and thanks for the kind words on the bus.

I narrowed my 67 beam 2 inches per side with no inner fender mods at all. I purchased an select-a-drop narrowed beam from Kymco, and a pair of CB performance spindles. I can literally lower it within an inch of the ground and still have a good ride, no kidding. Pics are in the gallery under my name if interested. Despite public opinion, you can slam your VW and still ride without stuttering.

Wade McGee

well, for ease i would say go with the 4 inch if you are really worried about the inner fenderwells. if you are really handy with a welder you can take off the inner skins of the shock towers and weld in flat steel, this will give you a half inch clearance on each side with a slight decrease in strength.
