|
|
I can't find the foot pound tightening torque for the rear axle seal cover bolts. It's not in the blue Bentley manual or in the Idiot book. I know what standard 8mm bolts usually torque to (13-15 ftlb) but these are the next size up probably 10mm bolts.
Any ideas? |

It's a little challenge to find in the '66-'69 Bentley because they put some of the rear axle torque specs at the end of the Auto Stick section.
In that book it's in section 6, page 64 Appendix VII. Tightening Torques...
Rear wheel bearing retainer bolt, M 10 x 1.5 43 ft lbs (6.0 mkg)
...or you can get most all torque specs from one of these too...

| Thanks for the help guys. I was a little skeptical about the 43 ft lbs figure because I hadn't heard the rear axle seal cover called a bearing retainer before. But I double checked in an old Type III Haynes manual and found a written description of the entire procedure along with the 43 ft lb torque figure. So that confirmed it, and everything's together and so far not leaking. |
