Wow. VERY nice work. I love to see pics of body work fabrication. I see a lot of "hack" work but yours is very, very nice. I will ahve to do similar work on my '51.
Keep the pics coming, we all await a picture of the finished project!!!! _________________ John Henry

Question Rud, how are making these "pressing" type parts:
Are making some kind if die/press?
Are you hammer forming the pressing along some kind of hard edge a little bit at a time?
Or are you just free-hammering the pressing?
(Hope that makes sense).
I will have to fabricate a few such parts.... _________________ John Henry

John,
I made this just "free-hamering" since I'd made this one before already so it wasn't that har to do it again ...
But I've used several other techniques like th ones you're mentioning here... Which one is the best? - Depends on the type of sheet tha you want to create at that time I think.
If you have a piece of thick metal lying around some where you can cut the shape out as well en hammer it around it (just the curve will do...) or a piece of wood (hard wood, like oak or teak, ...) carve the press in here and start hammering but that's for more complicated parts I think.
But the real thing is a bead roller of coarse!!! but... quite expensive of coarse |

Man your skills are amazing, makes me want to go out and do mine now?
What gauge steel did you use for the replacements? Cheers |

What do you mean exactly by "gauge steel" ?? You mean the thikness? It's 1mm and it isn't just blank steel but coated on the sides with a kind of grey primer... don't know the exact name but it's sheet metal used for body work so... |

Great work Rud!!
One suggestion about the old licence plate holes in your decklid:
do they match with the new to be used plates? If not you can weld them up and relocate new ones for the current new size plates. _________________ Oval 54 Light Beige, Oval 53 Metalblue. |

the holes are like they were, nothing changed. I'm planning to use a "holder" like you see often on the type3... this will fit perfectly with the tiny (moto) license plate and I don't like the plate directly on the decklid as well >>> Scratchesssss !!!! and if I would see that I would go a bit crazy in the cocnut |
