Seconded, check the oil cooler connections. If you aren't pressurising the system then that is the best bet.

Where are you? In the US all the 88's came with an oil to water hear exchanger right above the oil filter. These start to leak internally over time and allow oil and coolant to mix. If you have an automatic transmission then there is probably an ATF to coolant heat exchanger that could be leaking, but that wouldn't show up in the engine sump. Other then those it's the heads or the o-rings at the bottoms of the cylinders.

Cracked block.
If you have a cracked head (or block) or perhaps head gasket, then oil and coolant will be mixing in the engine. When coolant gets into hot engine oil, it forms a thick light-colored emulsion, somewhat resembling mayonnaise. If you see anything mayo-like inside your radiator OR under your oil cap, it needs to be fixed ASAP. Mixing glycol compounds (as in coolant) with petrol (as in lubricant) is that the two will quickly form highly acidic compounds which do all forms of nasty things to metal parts. _________________ '90 White Westy ("The Longship")
