The engine will be a 2180, 044 Kroc ported heads, 44IDFs, 86A cam etc. Likely will do a 3.88 straight axle setup and a very similiar suspension setup as Ken did on the 25A but with different brakes. I plan on redoing the original trans and engine (if I can reclaim it) in the future just case I ever want to stop driving it and go back to 100% stock

Scotty, yes this will be a full redo top to bottom.

Just PLEASE tell me your going to use the AA thickwall 92s?
Cant wait to see this bus hopefully somewhere in the USA if you and ken cruise down for a show.
Hell ill drive to WA if thats where it will be. Smile

I just finished a motor (2nd set ive had in my hands) and the top ring needed filed or it will contact ends.
So far so good. Smile 2085cc 78.4x92 thick. THE perfect bus motor. Wink

I like Ken's idea of OCTO 2012. I think we should convoy.
Barnies can lead and the rest of us fatties will bring up the rear.
Think we can scare up a half dozen buses for the adventure?

This, I like. I don't care who leads. Lets just do it. Trevor will tell you, it's a crazy long drive, but the fun factor is way high.

I'm thinking Mr. Murray might have his '55 single ready to go by then, your 15, and a couple of barndoors.

How many days of a head start will I need with original 36hp and reduction boxes? Wink

If you actually get your bus on the road for 2012 trip, Trevo will eat his hat.

That's a lot of hat to be eating. Them's some big odds. I'd really enjoy a video clip of Trevor mowin down on that hat, maybe with some green Tabasco or something Wink

Speaking of lawn ornaments, I think I saw a pair of L14 58 beetles on a flat deck on their way to the shredder this morning Wink

...And regarding the new helper that will be joining the family come May, he or she will be proptly put to work detailing small parts and such.

Nice pickup!! You mentioned Klassicfab making flat gates? I looked quickly, but couldn't find the panels on their website.. Are they on the site, or is that something I should ask about? I think my side gates are "fine" but the previous owner replaced the rear gate with a newer version.. Thanks!
It'll be years before we can afford to restore our '53 SC.. The '57 ghia won the bid to be first in the resto-line... Smile

*edit- found the smooth gate at klassicfab finally..

Here's a long over due up date of the progress. Since these pics were taken it has since been blasted and fresh green panels have been added to her skeleton. I have also just recieved the engine case back from the machine shop and the rotating mass will be getting balanced soon. More pics to come...

Things really started moving along in Dec. Seat stands and cab floor are in, cab seperation panel in, treasure chest floor and supports for the load bed.
