Had a drag racing event here at the Sydney International Dragway yesterday.
One of Subarugears customers (Andrew) decided he would try to beat up on his reversed Subaru transmission on the drag strip.
His LWB buggy is in the left lane. Engine is an EJ20T on 18lbs boost, intercooled, making approx 300hp. Transmission is fitted with the standard WRX 5 speed gearset and 3.9 final drive ratio. He kept the 31" tyres on just to really try and stress the drivetrain
In the right lane is Turbo Mick's SWB Manx which is fitted with an EFI intercooled turbo type 1 engine.
Both ran some good times in the 13's, with Andrew's best a 13.3 sec E.T.
Needless to say, the transmission held up fine.
Here's how these two great dune buggies (which see plenty of sand time) performed at the drag strip :

Awesome. Once you drag race an open cockpit dunebuggy you will never want to race an enclosed car again. I have more fun drag racing my 14 second street Dunebuggy then I do racing my 14 second Ghia. I also have a race Dunebuggy that has run a best of 12.19 @ 107 MPH.

Nice, I really want to get my Manxter out on a 1/4 mile timed track..
Here's mine at a flashlight drag (not timed, just racing head to head) on an 1/8th mile track. It's hard to tell from the angle, but I won and by a good bit.

Right now I'm running a Rancho Performance Pro Street transaxle so I'm a bit light on the launch for fear of snapping something. I eventually plan on going with the subarugears tranny. _________________ Manxter #39 on a 1971 Pan
