Is there a chart or diagram showing the dimensions of a 1600 crank, cam, and rod bearings?

I have an engine that was built circa 1995 and never ran, I'm having trouble finding out which bearings I need to order. I cannot find any insignia designating what size bearings are currently in it. I plan to just clean the case, mic the old bearings, buy new ones and continue with the rebuild

I don't know of any chart anywhere on the internet. Here's some info I posted in an earlier thread were someone was asking about measuring some bearings they had for an undersized crank, and oversized linebore.

A standard crankshaft measurement is 2.165" on both rod and the big main journals. The small main journal at the pully end of the crank is 1.574. If your crank is ground .020, then the inside diameter of the main bearings will be aprox. 2.145/1.554. You can take a rod, install the bearings, and measure the inside diameter. If your crank is .030 on the rods, the bearing diameter should be the approx 2.135.

The main bearing outside diameter for case measurement is 2.560".on the big ones, and 1.967 on the small one. If your case is .020, then the outer diameters should be 2.580, and 1.987. Another measurement to be aware of is the thrust. This is the measurement between the two flanges on the back bearing by the flywheel. The stock size bearing is .865, and there are two oversizes of +.040, and +.080. You really need to measure the actual part on the case to determine this bearing size because some shops simply "true up" the area on the case, and custom machine the flange of the bearing to fit.


If your case needs linebored, or thrust cut, or your crank needs reground, then you will need different bearings to match the changes. Oversize cam bearings are rarely used, so there's a 99.99% chance they are a standard size.

Just looking over it quickly, in blue, they have a standard rod journal size listed as 2.465, were it should be 2.165.

thanks guys.

Found out the case was lined bored .040 over. The mains on the crank were ground down .050 over. and the rods were ground .020 over.

The PO sure had invested a lot in machining.
