My '67 is a daily driver March-October, even in the Boston traffic. Marge definitely likes the summer months A LOT more.

What are your engine/trans specs and mileage? |
2180cc
AS41 Mag Case
DPR 82mm crank
CB 5.325 Rods
AA Thickwall Slipperskirt 92's
Engle FK7
Custom ported and polished 044 heads - all head work done by VW Performance in Phoenix AZ.
CR 8.02:1, deck at .043
SCAT 1.4 Rockers
CB 1 1/2 inch heater box exhaust system
45 dellorto's
3.5 qt sump, full flowed, external oil filter, stock german tin with thermostat and flaps, FI shroud.
all balanced, blueprinted etc.
Trans is a built 4.12 box with stock 67 1-3 and .82 4th. Super-diff, polished axles, steel forks, solids gears yada yada yada etc.
when I keep my foot out of it and drive like an adult it'll get 30-31 mpgs pretty regularly. most common is 29-29.5 MPG's. Worst tank so far was 26.4 mpgs and best tank so far 33.4 MPG's.
Its not the fastest thing out there, and there is more potential in it for sure, but its built to be daily driven so it is kept on the tame side on purpose. _________________ 67 bug x3

Bubba is a 1960
36 horse (1956)
split case trans
Firestone 165 80 15s
30+ mpg
Miles on car 140+
Miles commute <10
Love it, no radio, just the hum of the motor as I drive by grass seed and sheep farms in west Eugene, OR.
I only wish for longevity to enjoy it as long as possible...

Oh I'm loving it. It's funny cause when we don't have the kids we find ourselves taking the bug over her new Passat. Even my wife will suggest taking the bug if we have somewhere to go. We absolutely adore this car.
Here's a couple pics nobody cares about. Dark pic is me on my way to work and the other is me heading home.

Been using mine for a daily driver quite a bit these past few months. Other than mine, I occasionally see only one other bug out and about in the local area, but that's pretty rare. Even cruising the interstate and tooling around the nearest decent-size town, I hardly ever encounter another aircooled VW these days... kinda sad to see them disappearing.
The car is a 1960 euro spec ragtop running a mostly stock 1600 single port coupled to a swingaxle trans with 4.37 R&P. My daily commute is 54 miles round trip, about two thirds of that on the interstate, and I'm averaging right at 28mpg. Gotta say the smiles per gallon are right off the chart.

Probably the only complaint I have about using the bug as a daily driver. Left knee gets sore with the daily traffic on the commute home.

Sometimes you and the car just wanna drive.....
Been there done that. My 66 is long retired from daily duty but that was the best time ever! I'm looking forward to trying this with another vintage vehicle in th future. _________________ Project 66 Daily Driver http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=538786&highlight=

I'm 20 and drive my VW Blue (L633) 1967 Sunroof Deluxe Beetle daily!
No Joke...
I also have done lots of work on her while focusing on maintaining the originality
Designed and fabricated those roof racks.
btw I know the front fenders aren't correct for 1967 (body work that was done in late 70's when original owner's daughter rear ended a school bus!)

I have been driving my 67 daily for the last 10K miles. It is great and I frequently have conversations with folks that used to have one.
Mine has good heat and no water leaks.
It's been down for the last two weeks while I upgrade a couple of things in the engine compartment.
You just gotta love these old cars. They just keep giving and giving. That is if you make sure to maintain them.
Before
After
On of my favorite drives.
Enjoy the ride! _________________ I have learned over the years.

Used to drive my 62 Beetle every day (only car) until it's demise.
Next week I'll be returning to the land of a VW Beetle as a daily - a 1963 all original beetle (unrestored). Nothing like 1200cc's to get you there and back every day!
Driving it to SF from Tucson AZ next week.
