|
|
I replaced my master cylinder on my 73 westy this weekend....all went well until it came time to reattach the brake hose feeding between the two reservoirs. It comes out the reservoir inside the cab, feeds through the floor and into the reservoir that sits on top of my master. It is a semi rigid, almost plastic like line with a rubber fitting sleeves at each end that hose clamp at each end. Being a bit old the rubber fittings are blown and i couldn't get a seal. I took it to my local import parts house (Bap-Geon) and they had no idea. I also checked with Bus Depot and they did have any ideas. It is a larger diameter than any of the brake specific lines they had. Any ideas of where to get a replacement....i seem to be striking out here....
Thanks |

They sell the seal at CIP1. However if you are in a hurry like I did, I went to FLAP and bought some rubber vacuum cap (they come in different sizes combo package). I cut off the end of the cap and slid it over the plastic barb of the brake fluid container. The rigid hose would then go over that and helps to seal up the brake fluid.
As for the hose itself. I don't know where you would be able to buy them. _________________ 1995 Eurovan Camper (SOLD)

Airhead Parts and many other suppliers. Even Bus Depot.
P/No: 211-611-833 C
Beware!! Don't mickey mouse it. Brake fluid is not compatable with most rubber types. _________________ 71 Superbug

Funny.....when i asked bus depot they said sorry....and actually asked me to let them know if i find a solution.
also when i run the parts number that desertbusman indicated, i dont pull up any results on their web page.
I can find the grommets on various sites such as airhead....but no hose.
Does anyone know where to get a new hose?
Perhaps an aftermarket hose that doesn't require the grommets? |

the hose is normally fine. the seals are almost always in need of replacement. whenever the master is changed i recommend doing the grommets in the fill hose. we have a kit with used hose and new hardware and seals, we also have just the seals and clamps alone. i have not seen anything new that will substitute for the hard plastic hose.

Just wanted to say this is a great thread. It was a bit hard to find, but a great resource in this one page. I've been dealing with this for WAY too long and didn't know there was a repop solution out there.
FYI scott has just the gromett for all years.

Google the number. Many places have it. GS, BD, BB, CIP, AH, etc. _________________ 71 Superbug
