WTF. Anyone seen these before? Shocked

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Volkswagen-Bus-Vana...sQ5fTrucks

"Back in the late 1970's, Popular Mechanics magazine released the design plans to build the vehicle that you see listed in this auction. It is commonly referred to as a "Van", "Bus", "Phoenix", "Vanagon", and maybe several other names. These are built on a Volkswagen chassis and the body is steel framing wrapped in foam and fiberglass. Many variations were possible, limited only by the builder's artistic ability and whatever supplies were on-hand." Etc...

I know, I'm a sicko but I WANT ONE! Lifted with 31's or 28's like my old '77 Baja bus had. Could be a fun build. Can any of you lend me some money? Smile

I have sunk it all into my Syncro and I need some more. Laughing

The tent sure is weird. After looking at it, how do you get in it? No doors on the sides, I'd imagine you'd have to get in through the front? What a strange thing.

Looks like a reject prop from "Space 1999"... or a Pinto on steroids.

Seemed like a good idea in the 70's after they toked up... It's missing the mini skirt model with the fro...

I bet you can find it in a kit car magazine, they probably sold 2-3.

They also promised me a Flying Car... I'm still waiting for that one.

I love those old kit cars..
The 70s rocked.

Anyone remember the "Vandetta"?

A PT Cruiser looking f/g kit to build over a bug body?

I REALLY wanted to build one when I was in highschool.

I found this 70's fiberglass panel truck roof and rear end clip in the junkyard, I think that it just MADE my V8 Beetle . . . It's not a Vandetta, but something simpler. I used sheet rock screws to hold it on.

That's the old "BGW Special Delivery" kit, which is still available. Something very similar to the Vandetta kit is still available from BGW Spectre as the "Venus Van".
