Hey;
Those three questions don't have the same answer.
Is your goal to be fast or affordable? The more speed you're looking for, the more expensive everything gets.

What model Honda? I don't have much trouble beating most Civics with my bone-stock 1500cc Notchback, I am simply a better driver.
Please don't type in all caps. |

| come on Everett, you know you couldn't beat a HONDA! I bet all the ones you race are 11 second cars that would whip your ass...they just missed 8th and 11th gear...you should have known that. |

| Buy some literature. VW Performance Handbook by Keith Seume, found here http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0760...p;n=507846 , is awesome. Breaks it down in three classes: mild street, fast road, and all out ass whoopin(i think it is all out street actually). It also has tips about wheels. Overall best book I've seen that has good pictures and will show you what results you will get. Definetly should be on the top of your list... |

| if you want a honda eater out of a 1600 you need to know if you want it to be a short haul eater or a long haul eater. A short haul eater isn't easy with a 1600 as you need GOBS of torque, but it's fairly easy to build a 145 mph 1600. Put on a set of p&p DP heads, ARP rod bolts, HD valve springs, get a CW crank, a 2500-6000 RPM cam or so, either dual weber 40's or a Weber 38/38 progressive, then get the whole thing zero balanced to 10k. The duals will spread your power out a bit more, the 38/38 will be kinda weak off the line, but once the second barrel kicks in hold onto your hat. Using all stock or stock mod parts on the longblock(except the rod bolts) this motor is good to 7500RPM (that's when rods start to break)and should make about 65-70 hp at the crank. |
