i know that the rear section of the heater channel isnt "correct" but it was a matter of progress VS correctness here _________________ 1967 Karmann Ghia (Resto in progress...)

yeah i did, but the seat belt mounting holes have to be further back i figured, and the way i am going to mount the mounts only means i have to cut a 20mm hole or so _________________ 1967 Karmann Ghia (Resto in progress...)

I don't think anybody's going to crawl under it and cry about the patch job. |

Hi folks!
well, i was on holiday the past month or so but not much progress due to enjoying my teenage years, and also a lack of motivation. I think about things to much, so i will change my mind. so in one night i can go from being all motivated to getting the oval done, to hating VW's and there stupid problems and wanting to buy a different car with the money i have. that aswell as parts being so hard to find/getting dicked around by suppliers.
but today i manned up and dived in again, i bought a half floorpan section but then trimmed the seat rails, cut it in half and cut the back support section off that i didnt need, then stripped it.
I also dropped the floorpan at the sand blasters in the morning, then picked it up only a few hours later.

Nice work! I know what its like to lose motivation and overthink some tasks. I used to have a long running list up on the cabinet in the shop and I would work for 3-4 hours on 1 task and then cross it off; it was daunting, so I changed my ways.
I found the best approach to keep it moving forward was to make mini lists for the week or the night. Fill the list full of easy and difficult tasks so you can at least have something to show for the night. Crossing things off of a list can be rewarding, at least for me.
I also keep a running list of "things to buy" and if I get frustrated by a task I start researching the best buy on a part thats needed, or I move on to an easier task.
Stay on it, you are making some progress! We are all watching! _________________ Shadetree Westy

hi thesamba and noh20 folks, well i am discovering the work load of being a year 11 in high school. alot has happened since the last update though, we have extended our shed and there is now a metal work bay ("my" part of the shed). i threw the crappy half pan away because i realized how flimsy it was and bought a WW repro, a new csp kafer brace was added by me and the 4 inch narrowed beam from Pete has arrived, awesome work Pete! so now it is onto painting and reassembling. can anyone suggest a good front disc brake kit without the need to sell my liver? (has to work with dropeed spindles)
Peace out!

I got my 64 bug at 15. Your work puts mine to shame. Keep it up. I wish I had finished that car.
Don't get so bogged down in all the custom details that you don't get it on the road. Your life will just get busier. If you can get it running and driving, you can tinker with a lot of the other stuff later on. |

Haha... Did that with mine last year, It's a riot running around like a little kid on fire. Even drove it to a local car show hiding behind my sons '66. The attention it got was insane! _________________ ::: Slowoval ::: LaDawri Sebring ::: '61 Creampuff ::: Dust Storm '66 ::: |

hi guys, yes it was por 15'd, awesome stuff, just remember to wear gloves!
UPDATE:
so the car is now at a body shop being filled and sanded etc, it will be in paint in about a months time or less. i found it was taking to much time to sand and bog so thats why we paid someone to do it, i swung past today to have a look at the job they are doing and i am really impressed, they spent 11 hours on 2 fenders! im not sure of what colour i want to paint it. these are my options:
slate blue with tan interior upholestry
medium grey with red interior
i really want a red interior but im not sure if grey would be a tad boring, any one else got any colour combos? (cant be black) _________________ 1967 Karmann Ghia (Resto in progress...)

hey folks, im 14 and about half a year ago i bought a 1956 hard top australian beetle from a local vw mechanic who had since retired, he also owned a split 61 kombi which was taking up all his time and he realised he would not be able to finish the oval.. so i quickly snapped it off of him and started the resto process, i have a budget of about $110 a week so lets see what we can accomplish!
MY PLANS:
get this thing body worked, painted in the next year..
sitting on some gas burners maybe?, or 17X7 front and 18X8 prvat netz?
interior is going to be the most simple i can possibly do, with a 3 spoke wheel, red interior etc (classic look)
other extras like, led stop lights, dual circuit master, front disks, yada yada |
Awesome project man. Right hand drive. Jealous. |
