I recently came across an old engine case. I was wondering how to determine what the case originally came out of. The number on it is AK 005733. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanx! |

Should be a 73 or 74 dual releif with 8mm head stud factory case inserts...
the 211 101 102 E is a generic type part casting # meaning that it is perhaps a 3 point style rear mount that could be used in other applications which require an engine mount bar.
Does it say AS-41 or AS 41 on it?
has it ever been align bored? ( look for numbers stamped on the oil cooler "pad" and on the rear circle around the crank main seal. Sounds like a good case if it has not been machined to much or rear main thrust area beat out. |

Cool, no biggie, some stuff written about the AS-21 ( the rating of the magnesium alloy used in the casting of the case) being better ( ie hardier material)
But still if it checks out for cracks/ machine tolerances/ not warped on center main, then it is a decent case for a project rebuild. |

Thanks for your help. That is what I'm planning to do with it(rebuild). I figure if I've got a built motor setting around, then I've got an excuse to buy another car! |
