will air shocks dump my car?

will they. I dont expect it to lay on nuts and bolts. but how far will it raise and lower my car. its a 74 super beetle. Yes, i know, another air suspension question, sorry. but i want to lower my car and not ruin anything.

I have air shocks on my 73 super, I put them on to raise the rear end, because it was pretty low. To answer your question I would have to say no, that you could not use them like airbags because you need to keep 25 PSI in air shocks. Rolling on them with nothing in them will damage the air bladder. At 25 PSI my car sits about stock height, any higher pressure and it sits a little higher.

Air shocks will not lower you car by just bolting them up. You have to lower your suspension first, and then airshocks can be used to raise it and lower it back down. From stock hieght you may not get much extra hieght out of an airshock uses on a stock hieght car. Remember "shocks" are a dampening device, and have next to nothing to do with the ride hieght of your car, in short they keep your wheels on the road.

There is a company called Gabriel that sells a nice airshock. The are call AirJakers. You can purchase them from PepBoys. Make sure if you go to purchase them from your early car you dont go asking for a shock for a 1950-60s car. Because their computers dont go that far back and they are gonna tell you they have nothing for you. Ask for shocks for a 1970 or something like that. They will work.

You can get a super pretty low with the adjustable strut kit they make for it. And it's pretty east to raise and lower them.
