|
|
I'm heading to Pennsylvania tomorrow to pick up the 53 hatch. I will be leaving Saturday morning and driving down to Panama City Beach. Should take about 20 hours or so. I got my jacket, gloves and hand warmers. Oh, and a video camera to document the trip. George Schmitt built the 36 horse, so it should be fine. Wish me luck! _________________ 53 Hatch Barndoor

It's all good. I've got lots of warmies. I know it's gonna suck a little, but this is the only time I could get off to make the trip. _________________ 53 Hatch Barndoor

26!? How long does it normally take you to get to Florida Gibbs? I give it 22 and I won't be sleeping...well, not laying down anyway. _________________ 53 Hatch Barndoor

mapquest says you have 1099 miles, so 50mph in a barndoor is 22 hours....
philly to tampa is 1250. i've done it numerous times. anywhere from the record of 24 hours of driving with just me and jDOT to 34 hours the first time i drove down with DanM. you have the advantage and disadvantage of travelling alone. advantage is no one to break down but you, no one to wait for. disadvantage is no extra hands, tools, parts, brain.
you'll be fine. enjoy every minute of it _________________ Extravagant Lifestyle

Hey Good luck!!
My personal Barndoor driving in one drive with a 30hp (and full crash box) at 45 mph was around 28 hours (admittedly minus a 3 hour ferry journey after ~19 hours)....one hit with no stops apart from fuel. This was the final part of a 3950 mile (6356 km) European trip we did in 13 days.... Never again
All the best ...Hope it all goes to plan _________________ Austrian Kohlruss Deluxe

I swear Gibbs and I were abducted by aliens, because we never stopped to eat and I have no memory of any gas stops until we got to FL.
Driving that BD home is going to be awesome. Forget about how long it'll take. There's nothing like driving a bus home for the first time.
Drop me a PM if you want to take a break passing through DC. |
