my vin plate (above chassis No.) is absent, could you take a picture of yours so that I know what i am looking for, I have been told there are several differnt layouts over a short time period, and your bus is only a few monthes newer than mine.
Cheers chap. |
Simon,
thank you for checking out the thread, I am trying to finish up my 67 deluxe before I start on the 55 build, I have started collecting missing parts, but am not planning on starting any of the metal work until I disassemble the bus and get it media blasted, and epoxy primed. hopefully soon...
I will try to take a picture tonight of the vin plate and PM you. you are doing a great job on your 55, and I check out your build everyday. keep up the good work. _________________ SOUTHERN INTEGRITY AIRCOOLERS

| Hi Paul, Nice looking bus. Looks like a good start, shouldn't be to hard to get that dude on the road. By the way you still have the '67 std? |

No sir, found two other buses and did not have room for all of them, so I kept the best one and sold the other two.
I will never forget that 13 hour drive to Arkansas to pick up the standard.. _________________ SOUTHERN INTEGRITY AIRCOOLERS

Hi Paul.
It sounds like you will really do your bus some justice, I am a bit up against it, with my deadline to get to Bad camberg in the bus. Originally the bus was not going to be(and probably still won't) restored, rather refreshed, and nursed back into some kind of life!
The idea for me is to build a safe, reliable, fairly authentic early bus. However I don't think I have deep enough pockets to do a full Resto at this point in my life, and If I did, using it with the kids would probably be out of the question and render the whole thing pointless!
I still am unsure as to exactly how far I can take my 55 at this point, and how original it will ever be!
It will be cool to see you progress with yours.

Not sure why they always include that.
I don't think M99 mean snow tires specifically, just mud and snow tires or stronger tires? My Kombi delivered to LA had that too and you don't need snow tires there. | maybe a thicker sidewall? |
I think 8-ply vs. 6-ply could be a good guess.
(Sort of assuming normal tires were 6-ply but stronger/tougher no matter what) _________________ How to: Post Photos | Search

Looks to be soft green out of a pg/sg bus. I'm sure you wouldn't do anything to hurt that original seat . . . |

I appreciate the information on the correct middle seat.
The Middle and rear seats that came with the bus are out of a early pg/sg bus. I am in the hunt for the correct seats, but do not have the funds at the moment.... _________________ SOUTHERN INTEGRITY AIRCOOLERS

Hi Paul
Glad you were able to sort out the guide spring, I will still follow it up here and see what is about. was it expensive?
It sounds like you are planning to go about your build the best way with blasting etc. I will look forward to seeing your progress.
I finally feel a bit like the welding is starting to come to an end in sight on my 55, having said that I still ordered a cargo door sill and strengthener today as I could not bare to have to do a quick/long fix now and then have to do it again in a year or so, as the metal is quite thin in places! Hey ho.
Hope all well with you,
Regards
Simon.
Ps I will put some more pics on my thread later, but It seems a bit like it's only you and me that are interested! |
