It's not hard but it is tedious and I am tempted on some pages just to write the English rather than try to reconstruct the charts etc etc etc
Let you know when I am done, will make a .pdf out of it. _________________ L'audace! L'audace! Toujours l'audace! |

Yes it's the old BW Tech manual: 183 pages: description and service.
I'm a fast translator but a slow typist, on some things, I may Xerox the whole book after I wrote it and send it to Everett that way, some fast typist can retype my hand-printed translation, or you guys will all retire before the translation comes oiut, lol.
Comes from using a QWERTY keyboard (US) but having learned on an AZERTY keyboard (Euro).
So I'm the fastest hunter-and-pecker you ever saw! _________________ L'audace! L'audace! Toujours l'audace! |

Which TDv manual is it (there are a couple of them)? I can also help out with translation if you find the need. _________________ "I like how everyone likes talking about Zeke's Thing yet he's the only one that's ever seen it." - Katie

It has been done before, The Thing-Type 181 Registry did it 20 years ago. |

Site is still up but hasn't been updated in a couple of years. Dead but it doesn't know yet. I believe the owner moved on to other interests.

This is Beschreibung and Bedienung. What manuals do you have that are different and can I get a copy? _________________ L'audace! L'audace! Toujours l'audace! |

I know 3 TDv manuals for a vw 181, maybe there are more?
Part 1: Description
Part 2: Service
Part 3: Maintenance and (field)repairs.
Part 1 and 2 were combined in a single manual (TDv 2310/001-12). The original part 3 manual (TDv 2310/001-30) is not that easy to find.
You have the first manual (part 1 and 2: Beschreibung und Bedienung) _________________ Thing stuff:

As can be seen in the link posted by Doc, there are multiple editions of some of the TDv manuals. I have come across pdf versions of the different 1983 edition TDv, but I can't say that I have seen any earlier editions floating around the web. I suspect, like most all vw related literature, earlier editions contain useful info that didn't always get included in later editions. I can see if I can track down some links for you, if you would like. _________________ "I like how everyone likes talking about Zeke's Thing yet he's the only one that's ever seen it." - Katie

Please yes.
I am also looking to access Google's Wayback machine to get older archives that are there, or were listed as part of the AMHS computer archive that covers 1978-1999. hard to access, tho. _________________ L'audace! L'audace! Toujours l'audace! |

Yes I have all these and more TdV sources in my files ( also Unimog, Illtis and way more) that started my quest decades ago to storehouse all important data on Herr Kubelmann... |

For Silver Thing and everyone else:
I was extremely ill for a long time and fortunately have not died.
I am mending very very quickly and will make a total recovery within one year.
I have lots of sit-down time, but I have lost the German versions fo the Typ 181 manuals.
IF YOU HAVE THESE MANUALS, PLEASE CONTACT ME!
I will finish these manuals and then distribute them so you don't have to pay 75.00 for a manual that has no copyright...
This one will be FREEEEEEEEEE
