please help id this engine

This is an engine that came out of a buddies oval a little over a year ago. It was starting to smoke a bit so he took it out and put in a 1600.

It seems to have 36hp fan shroud and cylinder head tin

I am a later beetle owner as my 61 is the oldest I own and am going to be selling this engine to make a little room in my garage.

with a much later distributor, either the wrong generator backing plate or a generator off a 40hp (i'm guessing a 40hp generator because the fan is also stale air 40hp), the wrong/much later carb, wrong/later front tin.
