Yeah, it's on the road I took it out for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I felt like a kid in a candy store. I was so giddy, you'd have thought it was my first car. On my second pass through the neighborhood I went a little delinquent an got a few neighbors' attention. I'm a pretty safe driver in residential, but the temptation was just too much
It's such a good feeling being behind the wheel of this car again. How I made all these years not driving an aircooled is a complete mystery.
Only items left on the car are the door glass, front window and bumpers and it's done. No recent pictures, but I plan to get it out this weekend and take some. Who knows I may even get some video.
Stay tuned...
Cheers! _________________ My 67 build thread:

Update:
It was an absolutely perfect day for a drive through the neighborhood. If the weather cooperates it will be registered next weekend. Here are a few pics from the driveway.

Three thumbs up!
Beautiful car, props for using some rarely seen wheels and custom interior. Good mix of clean and mean in this build. _________________ 1967 Squareback |

This is what this project has been about...a balance between performance and personal/custom touch. I was a little worried the interior would be too much custom, but I'm happy with the result.
Thanks for the reassurance that it worked and for the kind words! _________________ My 67 build thread:

Got the car registered last week, but it's basically parked for the winter. Told myself I would not drive it on salty roads even if they aren't wet. However, I'm considering towing it south (below the snow belt) next week and shooting some video with the GoPro. I'll be sure to post video or pics if it works out.
Happy Holidays ya'll! _________________ My 67 build thread:

Car looks great, Keith!
Can't wait to see it in person, maybe even get a ride in it next spring! _________________ Eric Allred

Good eye. Yes, the wing windows are going back in... just didn't get them installed before I took these pictures. They are on the punch list for this week, along with a few other items like fixing the front bumper frown (the other issue I have with these photos).

I'm not a 68+ fan, and typically I HATE "modernized" interiors, but yours is done very tastefully. A lovely car! |
