Yes, pictures of another Tow'd would be great!
I think your Meyers tag number decodes to a May 1969 birthday. I can't find the gelcoat color 22S.

I own a Tow'd(project) that was raced in the 68 Mexican 1000 and in the 69 Mint 400 and Baja 500. It was called The Horny Tow'd and was owned/driven by Jack Allison of Allison Enterprises in Hayward, CA. It was co-driven by Wally Dallenbach.
The NORRA 68 Mexican 1000 entry list only has the entry number and the driver's names. It doesn't have the body serial number. You will need to find the name of the driver/owner or the entry number for the specific race.
Does your Tow'd have a racing hood (no windshield mount or instrument blister)? |

As soon as I can figure out how to post a picture, I will do so!
Do the NORRA listing list the class of vehicle in those days? |

Here's some pics of a race Tow'd that I took at Bruce's place. I think the hood was aluminum...

Yes they do. Under the NORRA rules, the Tow'd was considered a Production two-wheel drive buggy: Class 3.

Nice find. Yes, that has a racing hood. Sand the primer and see if you can get a number to come up. What part of California are you in?

| Your Tow’d looks in nice shape, and the rain makes it shine. |

| It looks like the center "console" has been replaced with a piece of stainless. It also looks like you may have a Moon gas pedal. |

BL3Manx, you have quite an eye for detail!
The roll cage also appears remarkably similar to the Jack Allison/Wally Dallenbach Horny Tow’d.
That lethal looking tow bar looks like the original. I need to check mine for signs of the safety chain.

A great history with your Tow'd BL3Manx. Just wondering any plans to re-do it in it's race paint scheme? It would be pretty cool with Wally Dallenbach's name on the side.
Also great find grey goose. I hope you are able to find out more of your Tow'd's history. _________________ 46 years of adventures and memories with our Manx in my gallery. |

The roll cage was added as a requirement by NORRA in 1969. There was a shop in southern California that made them specifically for the Towd. They advertised them in DB&HVWs.
My Tow'd didn't have as good a retirement as Gray Goose's. When I bought it it had been out in the salt air at Pismo for decades. The only original Horny Tow'd sign lettering it still had was on the sides below the rollbar. The hood had been stripped. However, yes I plan to restore it to its 1969 appearance, complete with a fully re-done hood. I have a couple more pictures of it for guidance. |
