clean up the rims and paint the inner black and outer white. id reconsider the tire choice though. i think they look too narrow for a bus. love them on a beetle though.
id choose maybe a 165/55-15 not a rubber band but not super narrow. i have a 165/55-14 on the front of my bus and like them. _________________ 1960 Bus Panel/Camper |

Maybe paint them gunmetal gray. But yeah maybe consider the 165/55s
I am running 175/55s because I hate the rubberbands and with tubs you have WAY more choices in tires. With the narrowed beam your suspension is going to be real stiff so a little more tire may help out a lot. _________________ Click to view image |

The only issue I foresee with a wider tire is hitting the dogleg. The disc brake set up seems like it kicks the tire out quite a bit. I'll probably go with the 165/55's though, they are the same width as the 14's I had. |

Honestly for some reason I figures the 175/55 had a lot more sidewall but its really only like 2mm more.
And its 30mm (about 1" ) wider.
guess it really doesnt matter. _________________ Click to view image |

i dont think youll have a problem with a 4" beam and stock rims as far as clearance at the dogleg. how far do the disc set up push out? 1/2" on each side? then an adapter so another 1/2" each side max?
so youll end up a 2" beam roughly. itll be fine with a 165 and itll look a ton better. _________________ 1960 Bus Panel/Camper |

Nobody in town stocked the 165/55/15's so i've gotta order them.
That will give me a few days time to finish cleaning up these ol' rims.
Tried out this look with a worn out hub cap.. think I like it.
Would look sick if I could get the 'redline' on the tires..mmmm |

| Those wheels look good!!! I agree with Chase that a fat stripe would set it off. |

It really looks way better in person....
At first, the black-on-black idea didn't sit well with me... but now that you have them mocked up, I too think that the red stripe would look really nice Dan. Not too sure about the painted chrome though, perhaps powder coated?
I was over yesterday to pick up Dan's old rims and tires, and they look great on my Westy.
Thanks alot for the new shoes Dan-Dan!!
I really hope this will be ready for Madera, can you say "caravan!"? _________________

Just finished sand blasting and painting the rest of the rims today. I'll get a red paint pen and paint a nice thin red line on the outer most lip. Hopefully the paint will last. The bus will definitely be at bug o rama. I feel it should be driving within the next two months, so that'll give me plenty of time to break it in and make sure everything is functioning properly. It's much easier to get work done now that it's in a garage, at my own house.

Thanks! Although I wouldn't say this is my ideal bus, I do love it very much. As for the interior, I'll just work up some custom camper kit. There's a cabinet maker who lives on the corner of my block who I'll try and work with. So far, all I know my front seats gonna be leopard print. Haha

Thanks! Hopefully the red will look as good once done, as is does in my head.

Yeah, I'll have to sand blast all that chrome off before I paint them. This cap is all gnarled up so I just used it as a sample. I should be ready for Madera, hopefully the westy will be ready as well. I do believe a caravan is in order. |

I'm just being lazy Dan, and this finger ain't helping matters either... slipped a wrench and snagged some sheet metal yesterday, and here it is... 6 stitches and a fat bill later.

At least the bus got some new shoes out of the deal.. haha
My bus also got a new set of shoes, tried them on for size today and rolled it out of the garage for the first time since coming home. Need to give her a bath pretty bad.
Height is exactly where I wanted it.. Sits even at 58" and everything clears fine. The lowest point underneath looks to be the rear torsion housing, but those are pretty small points.
I looked for 165/55/15's and couldn't find them locally, placed an order at 'online tires.com' and they called me 2 days later saying the didn't have any and it would take 6-8 weeks.. that's the second time that websites failed me.. So I found these tires locally. The fronts are 155/60/15 and the rears are 195/50/15. Almost identical height wise. |

Not really. I had to move again this month so that put a damper on things for a while. I just got the bus moved today, so hopefully I'll be able to get back on it. I've got 10 days till a local show. Not really to much left to do, but work out some small kinks. Here's a picture I took of it today all loaded up with shit, just prior to being loaded onto the trailer.

Keep pluggin' along Dan... you have four months til Madera, man!
If you find that you're cutting it close Dan, I can lend you a hand or two. |
I've been keeping my word Dan-Dan... and I am very glad that I could help you out today, when you were in a 'pinch' brother bear.
We'll get this to Madera, no problems... all you need left is the rear wiring plugged in/up, and then some minor adjustments that we can perform 'on the road', if need be. Assuming that the motor only needs dialed in, of course...
I really look forward to this first caravan with your bus in line Dan! We got this Bro...
Much love brother... I have you covered, trust. _________________
