|

My '77 Reef Blue friend came by today and while I was working to get her horn going (since I'm becoming intimate with horn issues) I noticed the crack in the photo in her steering assembly underneath (sry for blurriness). We're wondering how serious this is as she's about to embark on a long summer trip. She's been driving it for quite awhile like this as is. If this needs replaced can someone help with a part ID? I've been unable to find online unless she needs to replace the entire steering box ($$$). Thanks!

Unless I'm mistaken, that's supposed to be there. It lets that bit clamp down on the splined shaft. Don't take my word for it though. _________________ Vehicle: 1975 Special order delivery walkthrough panel based pop-top camper (LCA / Sunliner). replace the rubber puck with a genuine one when you get back. Also make sure the gear has oil in it if you haven't already. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |
