I sold my two seater with intentions of buying a used 4 seater. I decided to go ahead and build a 4 seater instead. Yesterday I went out and bought a 1970 baja as a parts car.
I was very Interested in buying the Berrien Encore frame, but, It would arrive around late march/early April. I then found out about east coast sand rails, and liked the style of their 4 seater buggy more. Plus, they are located in North Carolina, therefore I can drive and pick up the buggy.

I plan on driving the buggy on street most of the time, but it's going to be set up so that I can take it to some off-road trails. So its going to have around 31" tires on the rear, drop spindles and an 1835cc engine.

Here are pics of the baja. Today I took it apart, pressure washed and started sanding the front beam.

The buggy is going to be set up somewhat like this. It is the exact frame Im buying.

Sorry for the bad pics, it was around 10:30pm.

Just for an update.

I ordered the frame last week. He says he might be done with it this weekend. If so I might be able pick it up this weekend if time permits.

I left at 10pm last night, drove all the way up to Durham NC. It was a long 7 hour drive. I picked up the frame and other parts.

Steering shaft
master cylender
shift rod
two front seats
diamond plate flooring
New Axle Boots
11 gallon tank
and some other small parts.

I decided to paint the buggy a dark inferno orange, with black tree bars, and black "hood" bars and black wheels.

Today I gathered some ideas for some type of trunk/ cargo area. I came up with mounting a tool box behind the rear seat, or making a removable roof rack that goes from the windshield all the way to the last bend on the roll cage.

I also found out exactly where I want to mount my head lights, mirrors, turn signals, radio, and speakers. Im mounting the speakers in the headrest for the rear, and hiding the front speakers in the center console.

I ordered:
headlights
tail lights
turn signals
center console
wires
mirrors

Strapped down. It looks pretty sketchy, but it wasn't going anywhere. After 7 hours of driving, it didn't move an inch.

As it sits in the garage. The front beam isn't bolted up all the way, and its also not fully painted. The wheel isn't on either. It's just a gauge for my ride height. Im running 30" up front and 31" in the rear.

This is the furthest I got, untill I read that you needed a special tool.
How do I get these axle boots off?

You need to take the c-clip off the end of the axle, remove the cv, then you can slide the boot off the end.

Lookin good!

Yeah, the c-clip is hidden in the grease on the end of the stick part. Very hard to find and if you don't know about it appears the cv's are held on by magic.

Thanks alot. I was able to find the c-clip after cleaning the CV up a little. I would of never found that clip

I was able to replace the boots, clean/grease the CV on the passenger side. Tomorrow I'm going to finish the other side and bolt the axles back on.

I havent updated in a while.

I prepped and primed the buggy with etching primer. MAACO wanted 670 to paint the buggy. Thats way more than I can afford.

If I paint the buggy my self, with home depot red spray bombs, and then throw a couple of clear coats over it, how well will the paint hold up?

How hard will it be to use an air compressor and paint blower, to paint the orange crush pearl my self?
