My zwitter had that tar impregnated stuff that was bulletproof and basically had to be chiselled out. i just used plain old jute carpet pad and painted the top side black. I also used jute pad for sound deadening in doors and rear quarters to match original.

Here's one I think may answer the question(s). Note there are more photos I shot today posted in the same group that give context to the bigger picture/setting.

This the piece I remember, Thanks Grant.

Your car is an early 52 so not Zwitter, and IIRC has had 1 respray? I wonder if the respray was under the hood or not.

I'm beginning to think that there was some change mid to late 1952. Progressive Refinements mentions 13 November 1952 there was a felt mat in the luggage compartment for the convertible so why not the sedan also.

My 49 clearly had the fiber stuff glued to it.

That liner is one piece. All the liners I have seen are 3 piece stapled. Is that an after market liner?

Does anyone know what is supposed to be on the carpet around the heater control?. A aluminum ring or cloth trim?

Yes I did Marcus and they worked great! But I had salvaged some old ones so I have several rings of different sizes, and I was confused. ( it doesn't help that I have been working very late with very little sleep trying to get the car done for our clubs show this weekend)

All of the upholstery shops here are backed up for months, some until the first of the year. So I decided to install it all myself. Your carpet went in great. The headliner I had WCCR sew using your material was sewn wrong so we had to fix that. I will post more on that later. Need to go install all glass, doors and gas tank.

WOW, Enormous congrats to Bill on making it complete (finally) - Plus the BoS award!
Though I've transacted with him before, we've not met in person.

Enjoy it Bill, you earned it the hard way.
Now I don't feel so bad in my state of incompleteness. Smile

Thanks guys. It was a rush job toward the end. Sleep? Whats that?

I have a question, how the heck do you get the assist straps attached? The screws barely make it through the hook and strap. I used Johns hot needle trick to make holes in the material and I can get the screws to hold the hook on but the screws are not long enough to go through strap. Currently I have the strap compressed in a vice and the hook tightened down. Figure I will let that sit overnight. Anyone know a source for longer screws?

Also a HUGE thanks to Nancy for picking up a trunk liner from Wolfgang and toting it around with her through Europe and various airports. Also, this is one sexy trunk liner. Talk about quality, outstanding workmanship Wolfgang.

Three people I know that do quality work and highly suggest Marcus, Wolfgang and John Henry. Honorable mention to Nancy for technical information. (I will buff that part out later, and I am going to leave that oil filler clamp on, dimple or not....pfft..lol)

Pictures and more to come when I get time.
