Looks like Austria (both Beetles have German plates) ......going into or driving out of the British Sector ca. early/mid 1953?
*most people forget nowadays that Austria was broken up into 4 sectors after the war, American, British, French and Russian, Vienna was like Berlin broken up into 4 sectors, (and it suffered terribly under the Russian rule) it was only the successful parliamentary decision from Austria to become permanently neutral, that saved it from being a victim of The Cold War....*

Someone has shown me this photo as a postcard and it's taken on the Italian/Austrian boarder at Arnbach in the British Sector. (looking at it from the Italian side).
