Man how I wish life was this simple again. Do this today, and you would be shot or arrested for trespassing. |
also, the hill would have been leveled to make way for a walmart and the golden arches of a mcdonalds would block the view of the mountain. |
Actually over here, in Belgium, people still do this frequently on sunny sundays in the summer. I'm planning to do car-picknicks too when the oval is ready. Nature pulls... |
That's cool. My 58 was sold new in Belgium, maybe it's been on a few car-picknicks. |

| Notice that the car in the Munster episode is a black plate CA. car. The first letter is blocked out. I wonder what happened to this car? It could still be running around with those plates on it. It looks like a black car too. But any of the darker colors would look black in a black and white picture. It's a European car too, or 54 and earlier. |

Yeah - it's a hand colored postcard sent back in 1958.
Found moore old pics at the website of a Swedish newspaper "Sydsvenskan" (but they seem to be protected from opening in this forum?!):

A 1953 VW Ragtop on Drottninggatan turning left into Amiralsgatan in Malmö, Sweden 1954 (the other cars are a 1953 Citroën Traction Avant 11B and behind it a 1947 Volvo PV 444).
The very first four Swedish VW's on promotion tour, photographed at a pit stop in the town of Örkelljunga in July 1948 |
