Congratulations! Cool Don't have a clue about those options. Want to eventually do a certificate on my '66. How long did it take to receive it?

look at http://www.thesamba.com/vw//forum/archive/index.php/o-t--t-226112--.html

Looks like M002 was the US-Equipment... which makes sense

Russ, How did you pay for it. I don't want to give my credit card # out.

I thought about using a pre-loaded, ( prepaid ) visa card, Anybody use one of these?

See if your CC company offers one-time use numbers. Used for online purchases all the time. The number is generated from their site, and sometimes you can even specify the max dollar amount.

More than likely the dealership in Seattle had a customer come in and was looking for a Beetle with a specific color or option(s) or both. Apparently the Seattle location didn't have any Beetles to the customer's liking, so they called other VW dealerships and found the "right" Beetle in St. Louis and had it transported to Seattle.

I'm employed with a dealership in Florida and we have vehicles transported in from our California locations or other out of state locations per the customer's request quite frequently if our location doesn't have the specific vehicle the customer is looking for on our lot.

Mornin' Russ,
Well thanks. Believe me, it looks much better in pictures. Honestly, it's a good "20 Footer". Whoever did the paint and bodywork in past ownership took alot of shortcuts. Plenty of bondo that was never sanded down then painted over with it's share of runs and multiple dings just about on every panel.

Anyhow, my long term plans are to reverse the lowered stance, throw on pre '66 non slotted rims with black VW logo chrome moon caps, then have somebody do the paint and bodywork right, then finally freshen up the interior. I'm really fond of the stock look. With finances being as tight as they are and being my only vehicle which I drive daily, it's gonna be some years to achieve my plans. So in the mean time I just keep her clean, polished, oil changed, and valves adjusted on a regular basis. It has a '68 1500 and '68 tranny by the way.

Any pics of yours?

Ahh, the ever-evolving problems with BC accuracy.

I think a thread is order- one that tracks the following:
Facts about the car
The facts as stated on BC
The Percentage of BC error.

Not that it would help, but I think a well documented, professionally produced report sent to Wolfsburg with the precentage of error is in order.

Without any data- my guess is these BCs are 'off' by an average of 18%.
