Got mine too. Thanks for your Efforts!
P.S. USPS Likes to fold my envelopes/calendars etc even though you wrote "Don't Fold" on both sides! Might be safer to just tape the big envelope in 1/2 lengthwise. |
Mike, you're kidding! Did the stickers get ruined? I was told by the PO here not to fold them as they make get torn running thru their sorting machines. They suggested and said if I wrote Do Not Bend, they would not be! I was going to put cardboard in as a stiffener, but it raised the cost of mailing from $1.80 to nearly $4.00. |
No Worries, my stickers are fine but you could see the envelope had been folded. I have a Big country mail box. _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

I don't come on here often anymore.
Regardless of past issues or arguments with some samba members, I felt I had to pay my condolences.
Russ had helped me numerous times on both of my squares, from the very first time I sent him a message. If it wasn't for Russ and Tram, I would've been lost on so many occasions.
I instantly knew he was a great guy, with a good sense of humor, and a huge heart.
I just learned of his passing, and agree that the type 3 forum should be named after him.
He was just there when you needed help. Every time. Truly a class act.
My condolences to his family, and to the samba crew that had the opportunity to be friends with Russ. _________________ Contrary to popular belief, I am neither a dog nor a kid |

although i have never meet Russ, learning of his passing saddens me. Russ has seemed to have all the answers to my questions, and mind you these answers came quick even if i was posting at the oddest of hours. For someone to be able to always consistently be there for not only myself but everyone with type 3 questions, is just amazing. He will definately be missed _________________ "There Can Be Only One" |

But sweet god.
I didn't know him well. Hard to, when you breeze through here like I did years ago, then disappear and only return in spurts later on.
But I do remember him as being that guy who, with great patience and deep knowledge, took the time to answer a snot-nosed, punk-attitude kid's questions about a $500 dollar "funky VW wagon-thing" that was bought out of someone's back yard sight unseen in a fit of impulse.
That car was my '71 Square, and I miss that car every time I think about it. Miss it so much that I blame it for my current addiction to other funky, oddball VWs, like my Fox wagon, my '82 Quantum Coupe (harder to find parts for than a bleeding T3!) and my Dasher.
I'll miss you Russ; wish I'd gotten my ass in gear all those years ago and put the FI back in the Square like you told me to at least three times. I blame you and other folks on this forum for keeping me hooked on VWs.
Take care up there. |

Just to let those know who purchased stickers, I will be sending out the profit to Marilyn sometime next week. I have had a staph infection in my foot, and it has made things obviously difficult, not to mention I had to focus on healing.
Thanks again! _________________ "Two things are infinite: The universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe." Albert Einstein

Oh no !
I've been busy with personal problems for a few months, and when I come back on Thesamba, I learn this. Sad, sad, sad !
The T3 forum will never be the same again. Russ knowledge will be missed.

Looks like I'm headed back first 2 weeks of August. Not sure what mom's plans are, but I plan on fixing windows and sorting out the stuff in the shop with lots of tags and pictures.

Haven't been checking The Samba for a while so I just noticed this bad news.
My engine went to hell when I was driving across Iowa a couple of years ago. I asked on here if anyone could recommend a shop in Iowa and someone referred me to Russ. I PM'ed him and he responded almost instantly with his phone number. I called him up and it turned out I was only about 15 miles from his house. He asked if it was drivable, gave me directions and told me to come right over.
Engine was shot. He said he could rebuild it for me, or I could leave it at his house and he would help me work with a shipper to get it home. He'd give me a ride to the airport either way.
I ended up having him rebuild it. He was more than fair in the whole deal. Several weeks later, he picked me up at the airport in my car and had arranged it with Marilyn and his daughter so I could just drive right off from there.
He basically bailed me out of what could have been a very difficult situation. The engine is still humming.
I am so sorry to hear that Russ has done his last rebuild. My condolences to Marilyn and the family. _________________ '71 Convertible
